The Additional Secret of The Movie ‘The Secret’

The past few years, with an absolute peak in 2006 as the movie ‘The Secret’ was exposed to hundreds of thousands, an ever growing number of people is slowly waking up to the knowledge that there may just be more to life than the often robot-like existence of daily routines they lead.

With movies like ‘The Secret’ and ‘What the Bleep Do We Know’, and books like ‘The Attractor Factor’ by Joe Vitale and the resurfacing of ‘The Law of Success’ by Napoleon Hill, people increasingly realize that they can have much more success in life, if only they knew ‘the secret’ that all these sources talk about.

Still, although hundreds of thousands of people have seen the movie ‘The Secret’, why are so few people living their ultimate lifestyle? Why aren’t all those people living the success they long for so bad? The success that all these movies promise them? Is there an additional secret to movies like ‘The Secret’?

The obvious answer is ‘yes’. If there weren’t, every person having seen the movie ‘The Secret’ would be living the lifestyle of their dreams, would be ‘attracting’ everything they long for, and would be ‘manifesting’ everything they desire into their lives ‘without any conscious effort’.

At least, isn’t that what you would think after watching movies like ‘The Secret’?

Let me tell you what the problem is, what is also the cause of so many people still not achieving their desires and dreams, and what is also the additional ‘secret’ or ‘edge’ to the movie ‘The Secret’ and others. The problem rests in a psychological phenomenon called ‘selective retention’.

In simple terms, ‘selective retention’ means that you only remember the things you want to hear. In other words, you filter out the things you’d rather not hear. Let’s relate this to the contents of movies like ‘The Secret’ and other films and books with regard to this subject.

What we can agree upon is that all these movies like ‘The Secret’ and books like ‘The Attractor Factor’ are about a Universal Law called ‘The Law of Attraction’. According to the Law of Attraction, you can supposedly attract and manifest anything you want or desire into your life, based on what you focus your thoughts.

That’s the secret, according to the movie ‘The Secret’.

What I can tell you upfront is that the Law of Attraction is real, but only to an extent. There are very important nuances to its application, which movies like ‘The Secret’ either don’t tell you about, or which you filter out through the psychological process of ‘selective retention’.

The actual nuances and details of the application of the Law of Attraction are a subject to be discussed at another time and another place. For now, it’s important to realize and acknowledge the one thing that most people are missing from movies like ‘The Secret’ and the whole range of other products dealing with the Law of Attraction.

You see, movies and books dealing with the Law of Attraction often overemphasize the word ‘effortless’. You are led to believe that you can attract things and manifest things into your life without any conscious effort from your side.

Quite likely, ‘effortless’ is exactly what you want to hear. Who wouldn't like to do nothing while bringing about the most profound changes? People are hardly ever satisfied with their circumstances, so they desire change.

However, although they desire change, at the same time they resist change. Sounds like a paradox, but it’s true. Because as soon as any effort is required to actually make the change they desire come about, or to overcome the resistance experienced to make that change come about, people ‘cop out’. Do you recognize that?

Maybe you do, or maybe you don’t. But that’s exactly why so many people don’t achieve any success, although they’ve seen the movie ‘The Secret’ and supposedly know about ‘the secret’.

Through their ‘selective retention’, the only thing that they remember and engrain is that ‘no effort is required’, and they filter out the part that says they should actually take inspired action. As a consequence, many people think that if they just think positively and try to focus on positive emotions most of the time, everything they desire will magically manifest into their lives while they’re sitting on the couch watching movies like ‘The Secret’ and ‘What the Bleep Do We Know’.

They think suddenly some distanced relative they never heard of before in their lives, will leave them a legacy of millions of dollars while they’re eating potato chips and ice cream, as they keep on watching the movie ‘The Secret’.

Or they visualize themselves as a Scrooge McDuck-equivalent, swimming around in a pool of money. Perhaps they include the Money Bin too. And they expect a big bag of money to fall out the sky.

As a side-effect, they get bigger and unhealthier, and more and more miserable because nothing happens to make their lives better. Apparently, even a movement has come about that believes that you can apply the Law of Attraction to create a body they’ve always dreamed about. They think they’ll look lean and muscular without effort through ‘attracting’ their dream bodies by visualizing how they want to look. I kid you not.

Let’s reintroduce some common sense. Butt sitting never got anyone anywhere. The Law of Attraction that the movie ‘The Secret’ and other sources are about is real, but to reap its benefits and seize its fruits, you need to know how to apply it in your life, and you need to know the nuances to its application.

You can’t just start thinking positive thoughts and feeling positive emotions and wait for all your desires to magically pop up while doing nothing. That’s the missing link to achieving your success from the knowledge of the movie ‘The Secret’ and other films and books. The true secret is ‘inspired action’.

Doing nothing doesn’t help you. You need to act. You can get clear on your intention and then go do something else to get your mind off it. It’s during those moments of ‘silence’, the moments that you’re not obsessed with what you want, that you suddenly get ideas, inspirations, hunches and so on. You must act on those inspirations.

The ‘act of acting’ alone will make you turn on the switch of the Law of Attraction, so to speak. Then, through an interplay of other Universal Laws that the movie ‘The Secret’ and a whole range of books on the Law of Attraction forget to mention, the Universe will start rearranging itself according to your thoughts, emotions and actions. You’ll get new ideas, meet new people, stumble upon new knowledge, and so on, all of which you can use in your actions that lead you to your envisioned goal step by step, through a chain of events.

And that’s how the changes you desire come about.

Your job is to recognize what exactly to act upon. For that, you need to know exactly how the Law of Attraction works in reality, in conjunction with other Universal Laws, and how things actually manifest into your life so you actually recognize your opportunities. There’s not a great number of other Universal Laws, only a few main Universal Laws that automatically cover all minor and subsidiary Universal Laws.

By understanding the nuances of the application of the Law of Attraction in conjunction with some few other universal principles (or Laws) as boundary conditions, you can make all your dreams come true. You just need to overcome your ‘selective retention’ and acquire the knowledge of just the few additional nuances you must understand to really achieve the things that the movie ‘The Secret’ and others talk about.

True enough, it does require some effort, but by applying these Laws correctly you make the Universe work with you, instead of against you. And as you ‘get the hang’ of this application, the conscious effort required from you will keep on decreasing.

But you’ll always need to act. Nothing is going to happen if you don't act. That’s the additional secret to the movie ‘The Secret’. You just need to learn how to bring those inspirations about, how to recognize them, and then what to act upon.

And there are simple ways to do that.

At first glance, it would seem that positive thinking and Post-Traumatic Stress disorder (PTSD) have nothing to do with one another. But many of us with PTSD develop negative thinking patterns because we become frustrated by our challenges and frequent feelings of being overwhelmed. This negative outlook then makes it even harder for us to manage those challenges and move forward.

Practicing positive thinking allows people with PTSD to focus on our strengths and accomplishments, which increases happiness and motivation. This, in turn, allows us to spend more time making progress, and less time feeling down and stuck. The following tips provide practical suggestions that you can use to help you shift into more positive thinking patterns:

1. Take Good Care of Yourself
It's much easier to be positive when you are eating well, exercising, and getting enough rest.

2. Remind Yourself of the Things You Are Grateful For
Stresses and challenges don't seem quite as bad when you are constantly reminding yourself of the things that are right in life. Taking just 60 seconds a day to stop and appreciate the good things will make a huge difference.

3. Look for the Proof Instead of Making Assumptions
A fear of not being liked or accepted sometimes leads us to assume that we know what others are thinking, but our fears are usually not reality. If you have a fear that a friend or family member's bad mood is due to something you did, or that your co-workers are secretly gossiping about you when you turn your back, speak up and ask them. Don't waste time worrying that you did something wrong unless you have proof that there is something to worry about.

4. Refrain from Using Absolutes
Have you ever told a partner "You're ALWAYS late!" or complained to a friend "You NEVER call me!"? Thinking and speaking in absolutes like 'always' and 'never' makes the situation seem worse than it is, and programs your brain into believing that certain people are incapable of delivering.

5. Detach From Negative Thoughts
Your thoughts can't hold any power over you if you don't judge them. If you notice yourself having a negative thought, detach from it, witness it, and don't follow it. (I silently say the word “cancel”)

6. Squash the "ANTs"
In his book "Change Your Brain, Change Your Life," Dr. Daniel Amen talks about "ANTs" - Automatic Negative Thoughts. These are the bad thoughts that are usually reactionary, like "Those people are laughing, they must be talking about me," or "The boss wants to see me? It must be bad!" When you notice these thoughts, realize that they are nothing more than ANTs and squash them!

7. Practice Lovin', Touchin' & Squeezin' (Your Friends and Family)
You don't have to be an expert to know the benefits of a good hug. Positive physical contact with friends, loved ones, and even pets, is an instant pick-me-up. One research study on this subject had a waitress touch some of her customers on the arm as she handed them their checks. She received higher tips from these customers than from the ones she didn't touch!

8. Increase Your Social Activity
By increasing social activity, you decrease loneliness. Surround yourself with healthy, happy people, and their positive energy will affect you in a positive way!

9. Volunteer for an Organization, or Help another Person
Everyone feels good after helping. You can volunteer your time, your money, or your resources. The more positive energy you put out into the world, the more you will receive in return.

10. Use Pattern Interrupts to Combat Rumination
If you find yourself ruminating (spinning your wheels), a great way to stop it is to interrupt the pattern and force yourself to do something completely different. Rumination is like hyper-focus on something negative. It's never productive, because it's not rational or solution-oriented, it's just excessive worry. Try changing your physical environment - go for a walk or sit outside. You could also call a friend, pick up a book, or turn on some music. Motion creates emotion, act your way into “right” thinking.

Energy and Objects a.k.a. The Recliner

Energy and Objects

Everything in this universe is energy. Cells, molecules, atoms, it is all energy.

I have an old recliner that use to belong to my wife. I absconded it about ten years ago.
It is like an old shoe, reasonably comfortable. Maybe it was just a bit too comfortable. Remember what I said in my book PTSD:

Comfort zones are like caves
Their darkness makes it hard to see
Their stagnant air grows stale and makes it hard to breathe
Their walls box us in
Their low ceilings keep us from stretching to our full height

In the ten years I have used this recliner it has been a place to eat, a place to meditate, and a place to sleep.


Here is the catch. The first 6 years of me and my recliner it was an escape hatch.
While in my deepest darkest, throws of depression when my world was crumbling and my mind was gone.
I sat in this same Lazy-Boy.
Hate, anger, resentment self pity and frustration just oozed off of me onto it.
Everyone walked on eggshells because I might snap into a fit of rage if you woke me up from my self induced depressive slumber.
My inner child with his PTSD was a mean little bastard.
Obviously I was not in charge of my emotional state at that time.
Gratefully today this is not the case.
Now, as I write this I am looking at my outline for my next book.
On the wall there are big poster size post it notes next to a big erasure board and when I sit in this chair the triggers remained.
It took me weeks to figure out that I was more productive writing anywhere but in this recliner.


I allowed the energy of this chair to take me to a place I did not wish to go.
So what do I do?
I either clean the old negative energy out of the recliner or I just get new one.

It has been 3 days and here is what I did.

I donated the old recliner to a charity releasing it to the universe.
I immediately felt lighter.
The wife and I bought a new chair that was just perfect for my office.
Most importantly I finished the chapter to my next book.

Life is About Choices and the Decisions We Make


Life is like a road. There are long and short roads; smooth and rocky roads; crooked and straight paths. In our life many roads would come our way as we journey through life. There are roads that lead to a life of single blessedness, marriage, and religious vocation. There are also roads that lead to fame and fortune on one hand, or isolation and poverty on the other. There are roads to happiness as there are roads to sadness, roads towards victory and jubilation, and roads leading to defeat and disappointment.

Just like any road, there are corners, detours, and crossroads in life. Perhaps the most perplexing road that you would encounter is a crossroad. With four roads to choose from and with limited knowledge on where they would go, which road will you take? What is the guarantee that we would choose the right one along the way? Would you take any road, or just stay where you are: in front of a crossroad?


There are no guarantees.

You do not really know where a road will lead you until you take it. There are no guarantees. This is one of the most important things you need to realize about life. Nobody said that choosing to do the right thing all the time would always lead you to happiness. Loving someone with all your heart does not guarantee that it would be returned. Gaining fame and fortune does not guarantee happiness. Accepting a good word from an influential superior to cut your trip short up the career ladder is not always bad, especially if you are highly qualified and competent. There are too many possible outcomes, which your really cannot control. The only thing you have power over is the decisions that you will make, and how you would act and react to different situations.


Wrong decisions are always at hindsight.

Had you known that you were making a wrong decision, would you have gone along with it? Perhaps not, why would you choose a certain path when you know it would get you lost? Why make a certain decision if you knew from the very beginning that it is not the right one. It is only after you have made a decision and reflected on it that you realize its soundness. If the consequences or outcomes are good for you, then you have decided correctly. Otherwise, your decision was wrong.


Take the risk: decide.

Since life offers no guarantee and you would never know that your decision would be wrong until you have made it, then you might as well take the risk and decide. It is definitely better than keeping yourself in limbo. Although it is true that one wrong turn could get you lost, it could also be that such a turn could be an opportunity for an adventure, moreover open more roads. It is all a matter of perspective. You have the choice between being a lost traveler or an accidental tourist of life. But take caution that you do not make decisions haphazardly. Taking risks is not about being careless and stupid. Here are some pointers that could help you choose the best option in the face of life’s crossroads:

• Get as many information as you can about your situation.

You cannot find the confidence to decide when you know so little about what you are faced with. Just like any news reporter, ask the 5 W’s: what, who, when, where, and why. What is the situation? Who are the people involved? When did this happen? Where is this leading? Why are you in this situation? These are just some of the possible questions to ask to know more about your situation. This is important. Oftentimes, the reason for indecision is the lack of information about a situation.

• Identify and create options.

What options does the situation give you? Sometimes the options are few, but sometimes they are numerous. But what do you do when you think that the situation offers no options? This is the time that you create your own. Make your creative mind work. From the most simplistic to the most complicated, entertain all ideas. Do not shoot anything down when an idea comes to your head. Sometimes the most outrageous idea could prove to be the right one in the end. You can ask a friend to help you identify options and even make more options if you encounter some difficulty, but make sure that you make the decision yourself in the end.

• Weigh the pros and cons of every option.

Assess each option by looking at the advantages and disadvantages it offers you. In this way, you get more insights about the consequences of such an option.

• Trust yourself and make that decision.

Now that you have assessed your options, it is now time to trust yourself. Remember that there are no guarantees and wrong decisions are always at hindsight. So choose… decide… believe that you are choosing the best option at this point in time.


Now that you have made a decision, be ready to face its consequences: good and bad. It may take you to a place of promise or to a land of problems. But the important thing is that you have chosen to live your life instead of remaining a bystander or a passive audience to your own life. Whether it is the right decision or not, only time can tell. But do not regret it whatever the outcome. Instead, learn from it and remember that you always have the chance to make better decisions in the future.

With the countless negativities the world brings about, how do we keep motivated? Try on the tips I prepared from A to Z…





A - Achieve your dreams. Avoid negative people, things and places. Eleanor Roosevelt once said, "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams."





B - Believe in your self, and in what you can do.





C – Consider things on every angle and aspect. Motivation comes from determination. To be able to understand life, you should feel the sun from both sides.





D – Don't give up and don't give in. Thomas Edison failed once, twice, more than thrice before he came up with his invention and perfected the incandescent light bulb. Make motivation as your steering wheel.





E – Enjoy. Work as if you don't need money. Dance as if nobody's watching. Love as if you never cried. Learn as if you'll live forever. Motivation takes place when people are happy.





F – Family and Friends – are life's greatest 'F' treasures. Don't loose sight of them.





G – Give more than what is enough. Where does motivation and self improvement take place at work? At home? At school? When you exert extra effort in doing things.





H – Hang on to your dreams. They may dangle in there for a moment, but these little stars will be your driving force.





I – Ignore those who try to destroy you. Don't let other people to get the best of you. Stay out of toxic people – the kind of friends who hates to hear about your success.





J – Just be yourself. The key to success is to be yourself. And the key to failure is to try to please everyone.





K – keep trying no matter how hard life may seem. When a person is motivated, eventually he sees a harsh life finally clearing out, paving the way to self improvement.




L – Learn to love your self. Now isn't that easy?





M – Make things happen. Motivation is when your dreams are put into work clothes.





N – Never lie, cheat or steal. Always play a fair game.





O – Open your eyes. People should learn the horse attitude and horse sense. They see things in 2 ways – how they want things to be, and how they should be.





P – Practice makes perfect. Practice is about motivation. It lets us learn repertoire and ways on how can we recover from our mistakes.





Q – Quitters never win. And winners never quit. So, choose your fate – are you going to be a quitter? Or a winner?





R – Ready yourself. Motivation is also about preparation. We must hear the little voice within us telling us to get started before others will get on their feet and try to push us around. Remember, it wasn't raining when Noah build the ark.





S – Stop procrastinating.





T – Take control of your life. Discipline or self control jives synonymously with motivation. Both are key factors in self improvement.





U – Understand others. If you know very well how to talk, you should also learn how to listen. Yearn to understand first, and to be understood the second.





V – Visualize it. Motivation without vision is like a boat on a dry land.





W – Want it more than anything. Dreaming means believing. And to believe is something that is rooted out from the roots of motivation and self improvement.





X – X Factor is what will make you different from the others. When you are motivated, you tend to put on "extras" on your life like extra time for family, extra help at work, extra care for friends, and so on.





Y – You are unique. No one in this world looks, acts, or talks like you. Value your life and existence, because you're just going to spend it once.





Z – Zero in on your dreams and go for it!!!

I just discovered an essay that is 100 years old by Elbert Hubbard.

Message to Garcia:

The essay celebrates the initiative of a soldier who is assigned and accomplishes a daunting mission. He asks no questions, makes no objections, requests no help, but accomplishes the mission. The essay exhorts the reader to apply this attitude to his own life as an avenue to success. Its wide popularity reflected the general appeal of self-reliance and energetic problem solving in American culture. Its "don't ask questions, get the job done" message was often used by business leaders as a motivational message to their employees.

The setting of the account is the year 1898 during the Spanish-American War in Cuba.
When war broke out between Spain and the United States, it was necessary to communicate quickly with the leader of the Insurgents. Garcia was somewhere in the mountains of Cuba, No one knew where. No mail or telegraph could reach him. The President must secure his co-operation, and quickly.

What to do!

Someone said to the President, "There is a fellow by the name of Rowan; He will find Garcia for you, if anybody can."

Rowan was sent for and given a letter to be delivered to Garcia. How "the fellow by name of Rowan" took the letter, sealed it up in an oil-skin pouch, strapped it over his heart, in four days landed by night off the coast of Cuba from an open boat, disappeared into the jungle, and in three weeks came out on the other side of the Island, having traversed a hostile country on foot, and having delivered his letter to Garcia are things I have no special desire now to tell in detail.

The point I wish to make is this: McKinley gave Rowan a letter to be delivered to Garcia; Rowan took the letter and did not ask, "Where is he at?"

There is a man whose form should be cast in deathless bronze and the statue placed in every college of the land. It is not book-learning young men need, nor instruction about this or that, but a stiffening of the vertebrae which will cause them to be loyal to a trust, to act promptly, concentrate their energies: do the thing "Carry a message to Garcia."



So what have I learned?

A chemistry professor in a large college that had some exchange students in the class. One day while the class was in the lab the Prof noticed one young man (exchange student) who kept rubbing his back, and stretching as if his back hurt.

The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his country's government and install a new communist government In the midst of his story he looked at the professor and asked a strange question. He asked, 'Do you know how to catch wild pigs?'

The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line. The young man said this was no joke. 'You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come everyday to eat the free corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence.

They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in the last side. The pigs, who are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat, you slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd.

Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity.

The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he sees happening to America The government keeps pushing us toward socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine, drugs, etc. While we continually lose our freedoms - just a little at a time.

One should always remember: There is no such thing as a free lunch!

Also, a politician will never provide a service for you cheaper than you can do it yourself.

Also, if you see that all of this wonderful government 'help' is a problem confronting the future of democracy in America, you might want to send this on to your friends. If you think the free ride is essential to your way of life, then you will probably delete this email, but God help you when the gate slams shut!

In this 'very important' election year, listen closely to what the candidates are promising you!

If I had a superpower and could grant you the lifestyle you wanted, what would that look like?

Now, let me ask you: Is that what you really want? I've noticed what people really want is modified by a few boundaries that are, for the most part, imaginary or imposed by others.

You must separate what you want from what you think you should want. Do I want this because my parents told me I should want it? Because society wants it? Because you think it will get you more favor with the opposite sex?

Many men secretly make decisions only after having conversations with replicas of their parents, friends and a "desirable female" template inside their minds.

You may have not noticed it yet, but if you pay attention to the conversation which goes on in your head before you make a decision you'll find yourself passing through a series of these templates you've constructed.

This is not bad if you realize it and take it for what it is - just a little more input for the decision. The mistake comes when you mistakenly think it is your desire or input.

"How would you have lived differently if you had never tried to please your father? If you never tried to show your father that you were worthy? If you never felt burdened by your father's critical eye?" (The Way of the Superior Man, by Deida p. 19)

Do it totally because you want to, because you've considered the options and still want it� (Be More Selfish)

Next, is it bounded by what you think is possible?

If you really want to build the coolest skyscrapers in Manhattan but are settling for building townhomes in Podunk, Arkansas because you feel like you can't measure up, then free yourself. You're compromising your own masculine power and everyone around you can feel it when they're in your presence.

"How do you propose to force your ideas on them?"
"I don't propose to force or be forced. Those who want me will come to me."
Then the Dean understood what had puzzled him in Roark's manner.
"You know," he said, "you would sound much more convincing if you spoke as if you cared whether I agreed with you or not."
"That's true," said Roark. "I don't care whether you agree with me or not." He said it so simply that it did not sound offensive, it sounded like the statement of a fact which he noticed, puzzled, for the first time.
"You don't care what others think - which might be understandable. But you don't care even to make them think as you do?"

You might fail. You might get to Manhattan to build the coolest skyscrapers ever seen and find yourself barely living in terms of income, but you'll be full of Life. This will attract others to you. Before you know it opportunity will find you. When this core of purpose and masculine power is focused others will "fall under the spell of your power."

Roark says, "I don't propose to force or be forced. Those who want me will come to me."

But, even worse than others sensing your lack of power, you'll feel it too, you'll know you're not living up to your fullest potential. You'll know you're not a Warrior and can therefore, never be a King. This will sap your energy. It will be difficult to attract and keep a woman. Business deals will fall through. Projects will not get started or will never be finished.

Your life will slip away one day at a time until you're on your death bed, full of regrets.

Decide now to accept nothing less than your fullest potential and go for your Ideal Lifestyle.

Here's my Ideal Lifestyle (in shortened, less specific form):

My time is my own. I don't have a set schedule. I can work from anywhere: this week it may be a nice cottage on the beach, next week a Hotel Suite overlooking Central Park. I have at least one beautiful woman in my life who thinks I'm the greatest Man to ever walk the earth. I earn the majority of my income through passive investments. The rest of my income comes from writing on subjects I care about.

The steps to designing your ideal lifestyle are:

1. Think about what you would do if anything were possible.

2. Distinguish what you want from the voices of influence so you get to your pure desire.

3. Make a list of things you do not want to deal with. (My list: set schedule, office, employees, etc.)

4. Create a picture of your Ideal Lifestyle.

5. Answer: How would I know if I�m there?

6. Create a list of �next steps.�

7. Work on the next step each day.

Tell Your Mind What To Think, thanks Gary Evans

As little kids, we were constantly barraged with lessons on what to do and what not to do. It could be as instructional as ‘don’t play with matches’; ‘don’t talk to strangers’; ‘eat vegetables’ and so on. These got ingrained in your system that doing it became automatic. That’s great but what if you were constantly told ‘you’re not good enough’; ‘your grades are lower than so-and-so’; ‘you’re not pretty’; ‘you’re fat’ etc.? Unfortunately, yes, this negative outlook got into your psyche too. Like a dormant computer virus, it got embedded into your programming. Let’s say you were always told that you’re ugly. You grew up thinking that and each time you try to improve your looks, this ‘virus’ creeps up and tells you ‘don’t bother, you’re ugly’. As it has been in your subconscious for so long, you believe it and will just go on as you are. Substitute the word ‘ugly’ with ‘fat’ or ‘stupid’ or any of those degrading terms and you get the drift.

Would you like to go on like that all the time? Well, pretty much like a computer, you can also give your subconscious an anti-virus to counteract the negatives. The simplest way is to constantly affirm a positive mantra to drown out the negatives. You are, in fact, reprogramming yourself when you do this. Say ‘I am smart and I can ______ (replace with whatever you want to do)’ or whatever variation you can think of. It might take a lot of willpower, practice and time to get accustomed to this new program though. Say it repeatedly, whenever you have a free moment, until it becomes real to you. Remember that all the negatives came about because you heard it all your life. Hearing positives will work the same way.

Hi Timothy,

When I first heard that in order to manifest your hearts desires
all you have to do is simply 'feel good' ...

I didn't believe it.

I thought that there had to be something more to it. I thought that
it was simply too easy to work. And after all, I'd felt good before
but never seen money come into my life, or my perfect relationship!
So I dismissed that idea pretty quickly.

It wasn't until I saw the same message keep cropping up over and
over again until I finally started to take notice.

Joe Vitale summed it up in just 2 lines in his book, The Attractor
Factor and said that if you can just feel good then everything
you've been wanting would begin pouring into your life.

'Feeling Good' is the core teaching of Esther and Jerry Hicks who
were the first ever to coin the phrase, The Law of Attraction.

That got me thinking....

Why do you think these people would make such a statement??

The truth is that 'feeling good' really is all you have to do. I
now understand this because I've practiced it.

You see... when you feel good for 10 minutes, but for 50 minutes you
feel negative. The dominant vibration that you send out is one of
negativity. This negative vibration that you emit goes out to the
universe more than a positive, fast vibration of feeling good.

Think of it like this .....

If you were to pour into a cup 3 table spoons of boiling hot water
but you also added 13 table spoons of cold water.

Would that cup contain hot or cold water?

Most likely it would be cold, going on luke-warm!

This is the same with your manifestations. They are most likely
sporadic in nature unless you can maintain those boiling hot table
spoons of water.

Eventually, if you keep adding hot table spoons of boiling water,
then the cup will overflow and dilute the cold water until you're
left with a cup of boiling hot 'feel good' water! :)

And that really is all there is to manifestation.

The more consistent you can be with 'feeling good' then the more
consistent your manifestations will be. Before long, you'll find
yourself thinking of something you want, then you won't give it
another thought and you'll see it manifest into your experience.

Why?

Because you'll be emitting high and fast vibrations of 'good' which
will continue to attract 'good' into your life effortlessly.

If you don't believe me - try it.

Test this stuff out, just like I did.

You'll be amazed at what you can experience.

- Meditate?

Whatever it is that can make you feel good is what you should be
doing all of the time. Forget about the stresses and strains of
life. That stuff is just called 'what is'.

Here's a nugget of reality for you....

If you continue to stress and worry about events in your life then
you are going to attract more of it - it's as simple as that!

If you can feel good, NOW, then you're energy will shift and you
will begin to attract more things you associate with being good.

Top 10 limiting beliefs

1. Fear of our GREATNESS
For many people this is the biggest one, though often the least discussed. What if I was really GREAT at my own business? My job? As a spouse/partner? As a parent? As a public speaker? Etc.
What would other people say? What would my "friends" say if I suddenly outshone them or my income took off? I bought my dream home or my dream car etc?
For most people this is one of the most uncomfortable thoughts they can consider, and as a result holds more people back than almost anything.
As Marianne Williamson said in her book, a Return to Love (1992):
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us."
And also:
"Your playing small doesn't serve the world.
There's nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people won't feel insecure around you"
and:
“As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously
give other people permission to do the same.
As we're liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others”

2. Fear of Not being (good) ENOUGH
If you have a dream or a desire to be, have or do something, then you already have everything you need within you to achieve that dream. You already have all the skills, talents and abilities that you need.
You cannot be given the dream and then not have the resources to achieve that dream.
So many people hold themselves back by feeling they need to read one more book, take one more course/seminar or do one more thing before they go for their dream.

3. Fear of NOT being LOVED
This is quite closely linked to the previous belief. Often people fear that if they are their true selves, people will not like and love them and they will lose their friends and end up alienated and alone.
Many people go through life trying to BE who they think other people- family, friends, employers, employees, partner etc- want them to be, in order to win love and acceptance from those people.
The most important person, however, is ourself. It is far more important to totally LOVE & ACCEPT ourselves exactly as we are. Once we can do that, we attract to us people who also love and accept themselves and they can then love and accept us exactly as we are.
Our Angels, Guides, The Universe and Our Creator love us exactly as we are. Children and animals do as well. We don't have to pretend to be something we are not to love ourselves and to be loved by others

4. Fear of Rejection
This comes in different forms, from not asking for the date with the person you really want to be with, to being afraid to make that all important call or being afraid to ask for the raise you deserve or not asking for the order, just in case the person says "NO".
Well, what if they do? What's the worst that could happen? Probably nothing much, yet they might say YES! In most cases, people are not rejecting you as a person; they are most likely simply not accepting what you are offering to them.
Success is a matter of ASKING, and keep ASKING until you find the right person who can help you achieve your dreams. If someone says NO to you, it's a signal to either change your strategy or ASK someone else.
Look at a child who wants an ice- cream in a shop. What do they do? First they ask Mum, then Dad, then Grandma or Granddad, and if that doesn't work
they change tactics. Do they eventually get their ice-cream? Frequently. And when they don't, they ask for sweets in the next shop or a cake in the next and a toy in the next- just for good measure!
One tip: ASK with the biggest SMILE you can and start nodding your head! It is amazing how often people will follow you and agree to your request.

5. Fear of FAILURE
What if I try this, and it doesn't work out? Failure is often considered to be something bad, to be avoided at all cost. However, it is the flip side of success, and in order to succeed you need to try different things- some will work out, others won't.
Most successful people don't use the word failure. In fact they consider it simply as a learning experience that showed them a way that didn't work, and try another approach, while still moving towards their dream.
You can decide how long you allow yourself to feel bad or you can move on and try the next thing.
OK, other people may laugh at you or talk about you for a short time. Most likely they are too busy with their own lives and problems to even notice you or anything that may have happened to you.

6. Fear of SUCCESS
This is closely linked to most of the above, especially number one.
People often fear the positive changes, maybe extra responsibility, that great wealth and success brings.
They get caught in all the old negative programming about rich people being mean, selfish, arrogant and not spiritual and that money can only be acquired by foul means, and decide that it is not for them.
They get caught in negative thoughts of people begging for money and others taking it away from them, or what if they make it and then lose it? How much of an idiot would they look then to their friends and family?
Yet, Success and Abundance is our birthright.
We were not meant to live in poverty or stress. Once we hook up to our source of Abundance, we know that money is like air- there is always more than enough for everyone, and it flows as freely as air.
The more Abundance you have, the more you can freely give to others and help them to improve their lives. Abundance is very spiritual. Money builds homes, schools, hospitals, and many other great things.

7. I don't DESERVE/ I am not WORTHY of SUCCESS
Who decides who is worthy/deserving of success or not?
It is not the Universe or our Creator because they want us to have all the abundance we can handle. Our natural state is joy and abundance.
What are the criteria for someone to be considered worthy/deserving of success? Is family background? education? age? sex? religion?
You can CHOOSE for yourself that you are worthy of success and abundance. Claim your birthright NOW!

8. Rich People are…
“all mean, selfish, arrogant, unspiritual crooks who have made their money by cheating others.”
If you hold these beliefs then it is likely to be very difficult for you to allow yourself to have great wealth. If that is how you see rich people, then it is unlikely you would really want to become one.
Today there are more and more "Enlightened Millionaires" (Robert Allen & Mark Victor Hansen- The One Minute Millionaire 2003) than ever before.
These people made their money by SERVING others and helping them grow in every sense of the word.
They know and understand that the more abundance they allow to flow to themselves, the more they can help others, and the quicker and easier poverty is eliminated.

9. I have layers of deep-rooted beliefs that hold me back
A belief is a thought and You can choose your thoughts. In any instant you can choose an empowering belief or a dis-empowering one. Why choose to hold onto old beliefs and keep bringing them back up. Let go of them.

10. I have to work long and hard for my money
Why? That is often a pattern that many of us saw from our parents.
Yet for many people, working longer and harder does not actually produce more money or a better quality of life. Most millionaires only work long hours if they choose to, and many of them do not work particularly "hard". Wealthy people create money through creative ideas.
If you follow your heart and your passions, money will follow and your means of earning money will seem like PLAY

11. You need money to be able to make money, and I don't have any!
Many great fortunes have been built from nothing, sometimes less than nothing. Creativity and ideas are the starting point of riches. There are plenty of people out there, who have more money than time, and who will back good ideas.
Money is an energy and creating money begins by creating wealth in your mind. By living and experiencing great wealth, and truly knowing and believing that it is on its way to you because you deserve it.
It begins by BEING wealthy and abundant in your mind, and making it so real that the physical then must catch up.
Some suggestions:-
Go shopping for a luxury car, your dream home, go and have a coffee or a drink in the cafe or bar where the millionaires meet or buy yourself a small item from the best store in town.
Mix with the people you aspire to be like. Many of them are very pleasant, very approachable people. You will soon become like them.

This is an excerpt from my book "A Bullet in My Soul" (release date summer of 2009 Tate Publishing)

I discovered again yesterday the power of thought. This time in a negative effect,
Thoughts create our reality.
Yesterday I had spoken ill of someone and as I have said a thousand times "what you give you get to keep". The old tapes were playing as what I had said played around in my head.
I have a plaque on my desk that states: everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

I commented on a blog about a person who I had no right to judge. My ego judged this individual for their past. Yet I failed to realize that everyone is fighting some kind of battle. My thoughts and putting it down on someone’s blog i.e. (thoughts x's emotion= result) began the snowball effect of my attitude
It is almost like a rollercoaster at times.
Optimism is learned like any behavior. Everyday we have choices to make. Every action I take and every choice I make matters.
That is a hard one to swallow but trust me choke it down it is the truth.



My day was not the same after speaking ill of another. I had broken one of my own sacred rules of living and in doing so zapped the energy from my body and soul.
The point is not what I said the point is that I thought it with emotion and wrote it down. This equaled the result

I put negative out to the universe and the law of attraction repaid me in full.
My day was not very productive.


The thoughts I had about this individual allowed me to fit in with the rest of the crowd. This was the easy way. Thoughts become things and words have tremendous power. When you get emotional about something it usually comes from the words you use to communicate with yourself.
Thoughts x's Words = emotion and emotion leads us to action or inaction in this case.

See how long you can go without having a negative thought about someone or something. Ah come on, it's not that hard. Give it a try.
You make be thinking okay Tim this is nuts. What am I going to get out of this? What is in it for me? This may be all well and good for you but not for me.
Our best thinking got us to this point in our lives today. If it is unsatisfactory we'd better look at and try new things that might enhance our lives and those around us.


Every action is a loving response or a cry for help. I want my actions to be a loving response. What about you?

Bullet 2: I have the keys to my memory bank therefore I must always deposit positive things into it.
Bullet 3: Squeeze an orange and what comes out? When you are squeezed what comes out?

Two Natures beat within my breast,

Focus with a burning desire on what you DO want, NOT what you Don't want.

4. Focus and concentrate on where you want to go, NOT away from where you don't want to be.

5. You will always move in the direction of your dominant thoughts.

Thoughts create Feelings and Feelings create Actions and our Actions create Our Results.

Pretty simple philosophy to the law of attraction you'd think.

I know for me that Clarity is Power.

When I stay clear on my purpose and know my outcome my life has meaning and I live with passion.

When I feel good, well, Good things happen.

I'll give you a quick example.

I was feeling good about my life and all the things I was grateful for.

I had a business proposition go through and I was so juiced up about it that I forgot about another proposal that I'd had written out.

Feeling excited and relieved I swam with my dog "Molly the Mauler".

I was in a state of total bliss about the money I'd receive from that deal and was feeling good.

Afterward I checked my email and BAM! The other proposal (the one I forgot about) was accepted.

I was feeling good and another good thing happened.

Here are my ABC's about feeling good:

A) Faith: A very popular book says "walk with faith and not with your sight".

B) Passion: Motion creates emotion. I do everything with Passion, i.e. walk 25% faster, and walk with a purpose.

C) Feeling: Vibrate to the universe what I want and intend to get it.

In 1519, Capitan Hernando Cortes and a small army left the Spanish held island of Cuba and set out on one of the greatest conquests in the history of the world. Cortes was going to accomplish his goals no matter the consequences. He put to death some of those who opposed him, got himself appointed Capitan-General in order to get out from under Diego Velazquez's authority, and even destroyed his fleet in an attempt to motivate his men to adapt to his at-all-costs attitude.

1. Be a person of action

2. Persist without exception

3. Make it a rule for yourself that you are not going to mentally embrace any negative thing that has happened to you up to this very minute.

The Watchman at the Gate

I am not sure why I remember the following but I do.
The year is 1993 I am escorting a Chaplain in Somalia.
The perimeter is still hot as the bad guys are always looking to raise havoc.
What puzzles me is the Chaplain I'm escorting did not carry a weapon.
Was it FAITH or STUPIDITY?
I on the other hand was heavily armed. Few could comprehend how much munitions I had strapped to me 24/7.
As we went from bunker to bunker talking to the troops he strolled along like we were in a park on a Sunday afternoon (remember it is 2am pitch black and eerie, okay scary too).
I ask him about a weapon and he said "he did not need one, never carried one, and did not have a use for one".
I thought Hell he does not need an escort he needs a straight jacket. What the hell was I doing there!
I'm not sure.
Looking back it was the Law of Attraction and Faith

I'll try to explain,

When the Watchman at the Gate, i.e. the conscious mind is off duty the unconscious mind is unguarded. The unconscious mind never sleeps, it never rest.
So when the Watchman allows the negative thoughts (bad guys) to enter the perimeter and state certain thoughts. Those thoughts set other forces in motion and a desired or undesired result is attained.
The subconscious cannot argue. If a wrong suggestion is placed within it must be overcome by a strong counter suggestion, one with feeling, emotion and one that may require massive action.

To further enhance my enlightened state my watchman at the gate allowed me to have a beautiful dream last night.
I was in back in Iraq with a very close friend,

There was a beautiful night sky and a very odd cloud formation covering half of the sky, we were at peace.



So this morning at 5am when I was walking my dog I see the same sky with the same odd cloud formation.

I was at peace and I missed my friend.

My friend was with me in Iraq and this morning in my thoughts.

The watchman allowed a forgotten memory past the perimeter.

Fortunately this was to be a positive, healthy, and healing memory. (Not all of them are)

It is not what happens on the outside that matters it is what happens within me that matters.

Because what happens "within" eventually will manifest itself "without".

Look in the mirror and you will see exactly what I am talking about.

Look around your house, (Is it a mess?)

Look at the interior of your car. (Is it a mess?)

Look in the eyes of a stranger or a family member.

What do you see?

What do you feel?

Memory Enhancement Techniques That Can Change Your Life

You might have a face that is anti-wrinkle despite being 60 years old, but your memory capacity will definitely be eaten up as you continue to age. Memory loss in old age cannot be stopped for sure, but it can definitely be slowed down. There are plenty of supplements out there but unfortunately, none of them is The Miracle Pill. Hence, the only way to give your memory a boost is to learn some of the memory enhancement techniques that can really change your life.

When using the memory enhancement techniques, the main idea is to make full use of our brain and memory so as to keep us thinking and “moving” at all times. Most of the memory techniques available here are easy to follow, as such; you would definitely not have to worry about going to the extreme ends of the spectrum.

Firstly, we must learn some of the ways whereby our memory power can be built up. Remembering information such as addresses, numbers and names will help to ensure that our memory is being worked out. This is also a form of memory exercise that allows you to exercise your brain to take and store in memory. Alternatively, playing mind-boggling games and puzzles will help out in developing your memory power.

Another technique to improve your memory is to learn the tricks of storing memory. This would refer to how different people are able to store in memory, within just a short period of time or so called ‘Photographic Memory’. The technique used to develop this photographic memory varies from people to people. But the more common one is to have a mental scenario of the things that you are supposed to remember. For example, when you are given a list of items for grocery shopping, simply use the words from the list to form a mental scenario. Example, if you are given a list of: cat, skirt and banana, try to create an image whereby there is a cat wearing a skirt trying to eat a banana. If there are plenty more items to add to the list, then just continue to link these items to the initial image. Lastly, just remember to link the last item back to the first item. Let us not forget that the most common method is the ability to keep up with a healthy diet at all times. Despite being relatively easy to do, many have ignored this and choose to lead the unhealthy and unbalanced diet, which consists of chips, chips and more chips! A healthy diet helps with the circulation in the body and as such the brain is able to benefit from this too. Foods like broccoli, spinach and blueberries are definitely encouraged. At the same time, remember to include a few simple exercises as part of the healthy routine. Believe it or not, simple exercises can help to rejuvenate the mind and soul. This will allow you to free yourself and loosen up the tensed muscle that might have accumulated whilst you were busy running around in rage in the office.

These memory improvement techniques do not cost you a single penny. However, you will definitely have to put in some discipline and effort to make sure that you are able to keep up with every itsy bitsy detail. Nothing can beat these free and easy methods!

When I came back from Iraq and what my friend calls "The University of Fallujah" I had faced a demon that had haunted me for more than ten years.
That demon being Post-traumatic Stress Disorder..
I'd retired from the Army in 1998 and from 1998 to 2003 I had 27 jobs.
I was a mess and I knew I had to cut the wound open again so it would heal correctly. I was lucky or blessed, when I returned to the beast that fed me in 2003. That beast was war. I went to work for the government and I travelled all over Iraq.
I knew my old friend PTSD would catch up with me and when he did I self destructed.
This will sound funny but it was a relief to go back and know my outcome (a psycological collapse). It was just gonna be a matter of time. I had to heal. there is nothing sane about war. Nobody wins.
There is nothing glamorous about war, except in the movies.
Believe me when shit is blowing up around you and the bad guys are in the perimeter there is nothing sexy about it.
Just a wierd terrifying peace knowing that your time in this dimension of existance is about to change or end.

So I started over from square one. I started asking myself better empowering questions like the previous exercise and the questions that follow.

Do you believe you can do anything with your mind?
Do you create your own reality?
Do you achieve what you want?
Do you visualize success constantly?


Today I can say yes to the last 4 questions.

Those are important questions.

Those questions helped create my future in advance.

It doesn't get any easier later, it just get's later

had several emails from friends who ask me what they should do when they don’t know what to manifest. They don’t know exactly what it is they are wanting from life.

This is actually quite a common question that many people have.

Here’s my recommendation for you…

Think about and say the following statement:

“I would like to attract life experiences that give me the clarity to know what I am wanting to manifest.”

And that’s it. The Law of Attraction will quickly go to work!

The Law of Attraction is working in every second of every minute whether you realize it or not. By asking for clarity on what it is that you want to manifest in your life, you will attract those experiences that will help you to understand.

Let the thought go and now allow it into your experience by feeling good.

Why is it important to be Magnetic?

When I am focused upon serving or assisting people I am very magnetic.
Why is it important to be Magnetic?

Because anything I accomplish is the direct or indirect result of someone else's help. Always has been always will be.

Sounds odd, I know. 

These past weeks I have found this to be true on more than one occasion.

I have been blessed to have many great teachers in my life.  Some you may have heard of and many (you reading this may even have taught me something) you may never know.

Recently my life has become a whirlwind of activity.
Many times it seems emotionally more than I can handle. 

This is when I get on the phone to my publicist Linda Marie.

I speak in sound bites, short and too the point.  Forgetting that she may have challenges and things she needs to share.  My mind races and I forget that listening is the great art of any business relationship.
She wrote a blog that got my attention.  It is about what I preach and recently found myself not practicing, basically chunking big projects down.

Here is the blog.  I swear she wrote it for me (lol)

There are so many people looking for ways to put their plans into action. They know what they want; they just don't know how to start. I know you have heard a million times just start but it doesn't seem to help anything. I have a one, two, three, approach to my daily life.

1. I start each day with me. What do I need to do today to take care of my needs? I found that if I dress as if I am going to be in public even if I am not I connect with people on a more professional level. I have to feel good about me in order to send the right message to those people I am working with.

2. I have a system of time management I stick with everyday. It is my 1. 2. 3. File, all ones get 15 mins and that is it. I have 15 mins for that task and it is done. Two's are the projects which are going to at up to an hour and they are in a file that I work on three times a week, but I can only do two of them on a day I am working with that file. My threes are in a file of things which are going to take some time to complete and I work on them twice a week. I give myself either the morning or the afternoon to work that file and keep the project in the file until it is finished.

3. The rest of the time I spend doing marketing and talking with people on the phone or online. I set a goal for the day as to how many new contacts I want to make for that day and I don't stop until I have made them.

That is what has worked for me.

So today I am "chunking down" my projects because I discovered my lack of enthusiasm about certain projects is my soul’s way of directing me to another path.

To offer no resistance to life is to be in a state of grace ease and lightness. By "chunking down" my projects, books, blogs etc. I am no longer overwhelmed.

The most important thing I can remember today is this,

Every step I take toward a goal, no matter how big or small pays a dividend.

Most importantly is that I help others with the gifts and blessings that have been bestowed upon me

Giving is living and what you give you get to keep.

So being Magnetic and giving is a reaction to the Law of Attraction

5.  When you give, if you complain about giving it stops the flow of your magnetic attraction

To be truly Magnetic a successful man is not selfish his main desire in life is to serve humanity.
