So what exactly are your motivations?

What makes you get really excited and motivates you? Finding out the answers to these questions will help you with your self-improvement and personal success. By understanding your own personal motivations, you will be able to unlock, comprehend, and guide your future much more easily.

Most of us want a better way of life. Although each of us may define what truly constitutes a better way of life differently, we all want to see things improve for ourselves and our loved ones. Chances are you are looking for ways to improve your life. But remember... the only person who can truly make a change in your life is you.

This simply means that you will need to move from your current train of thought to a different one. Such a journey may involve a few stops along the way. It will definitely require that you make changes while moving ahead, even on days when it seems like it would be easier to revert back to your comfort zone.

Change is vital for Motivations to move forward...

Chances are there is no one going to be holding your hand as you take your journey, prodding you along. No one is going to dangle food in front of you, tricking you into marching forward. If you want to move from point A to point B, you are the only one that can make it happen. In order to keep moving along the path, you need to find the right motivation.

Motivations are important. If you attach yourself to shallow inspiration and weak motivations, you will quickly find yourself ducking out of the overall process. However, if you are able to segregate what really matters most to you, it is possible to achieve your goals.

Identify and Master your Motivations...

The question then becomes what actually motivates you? For some people, it is very easy to recognize what motivates them. They are easily able to list them off. For these people, they are in touch with their true calling and have a full understanding of what keep them going each day and they work towards their goals. However, some of us are not so lucky. In the chaos of every day life, with work, grocery shopping, home responsibilities, getting the car repaired, paying bills and doctor visits, it is easy to lose track of our core motivations. For most of us, we have to really search for our motivators.

The first step is to remember what motivates one person, doesn't necessarily motivate everyone else. True motivations are very personal. Motivations are formed from our life experiences, background, education and true understanding of the world. There is not a set of motivations that work for everyone out there (aside from the basic physiological needs of course). If you are looking at someone else for your motivations, you are looking in the wrong place.

Live with Your True Motivations...

In order to find your true motivations, you need a bit of introspection. Begin by looking at your past successes and what kept you going during those projects. Look at the goals you have always held to the most strongly. In order to have full understanding of what core principals have inspired you, evaluate your goals. Your motivations are you own and no one else will be able to come up with a list of motivators for you. You will have to dig through your past and discover them.

Re-Discover your Motivational History...

The good news in all of this is that digging through you past to discover your true motivators is well worth the effort. Once you have narrowed down the motivators that "make you tick", you can begin to move forward to reach your maximum potential. While others are struggling because of ready made solutions and plans that don't match and only result in frustration, you will be able to move along with your plans and goals. You will easily be able to supercharge your self-improvement efforts, by aligning your plan of attack with a solid understanding of your motivations.

What are your motivations? If you do not have a true answer to that question, then it is time to develop one.

Motivation is the fuel not the destination

Motivation, motivation what is motivation! Many people think they know what motivation is, but do they? A little research will show you that the dictionary definition of motivation is "the psychological feature that arouses an organism to action toward a desired goal; the reason for the action; that which gives purpose and direction to behaviour". Ask people to define motivation, very few will give such a concise response. This is because at some level, motivation is intrinsically involved with every aspect of our lives. We have to have a certain level of motivation to achieve anything from the simplest tasks such as getting out of bed or going shopping, through to life goals such as having a successful career. Unfortunately, most people see motivation, as part of the destination rather than the fuel that is needed to get us to reach our chosen destination.

Not understanding what motivation is usually leads to disappointment in life either on a spiritual or materialistic level. One of the most common areas where the lack of a clear definition of what motivation is occurs in the area of goal setting. We all know and understand the concept of setting goals and working towards them to achieve what we want in life, but if you speak to any number of people about setting and achieving goals, they will tell you that their goals motivate them to achieve what they really want out of life. This fundamental confusion over what motivation is often leads to people not achieving their goals and full potential, in fact it often leads to greater de-motivation, as after each setback the belief in the goal becomes less strong leading to a perceived lower level of motivation to achieve the goal. It becomes a vicious circle. It is a situation that many of us have faced and the difficulties that this kind of position brings. It takes a long time for us to realise that goals and motivation are not the same and we should not treat them as such.

When you set your goals you're laying out the route and the destination you want to get to. When we are setting goals we are telling ourselves what do we want in life and how are we going to get there. What steps do we need to take? A list of goals will always allow us to move forward and give us a purpose in life, but they are not motivation in themselves.

Motivation is the fuel that inspires us to reach are goals and desires and allows us to keep getting up and moving towards our goals whenever we have a setback. Getting motivated and staying motivated gives us the energy we need to reach our goals in the shortest time possible. Motivation is required to meet our goals and goals are required to give purpose to our motivation. The two work hand in hand. If you get the motivation right you can achieve anything. So think seriously about how to get motivated and stay motivated so you can achieve whatever you desire.

Boost Your Motivation Levels

I Am not Motivated Because I Can't

A friend of mine told me once that he could never quit smoking because cigarettes were in his blood (he didn't mean nicotine, just that he was deeply dependant on cigarettes and could not imagine living without them). If that's the same way you feel, ask yourself one question: "What is the one thing that I want most in my life?". Now imagine meeting a wizard that could make your wish come true only if you quit smoking. Would you be able to quit then? Of course you would!

The conclusion is; you weren't able to quit because you were not motivated and not the other way round, namely not being motivated because you can't quit. Don't fool yourself and develop a false belief about your abilities; you have the ability to succeed at anything even if it seems beyond your reach if you only have the motivation to go after it with all you've got.

Understand Your Style of Motivation

A billionaire may have become rich because he didn't want to be poor. Another billionaire could have become rich because he wanted to buy a bigger house or so that he could enjoy a more affluent life style.

What's all that about? Some people become motivated because they want to get closer to something (the "towards" motivation style) while others become motivated because they want to move away from something (the "away" motivation style). The first man wanted to avoid poverty and so he was motivated to become rich, while the second man was motivated because he wanted to live more comfortably.

If you want to motivate yourself, you should first determine your motivation style. Is it running away from what you don't want, or is it moving towards what you want. Note that you could have a different motivation style in different areas of life. For example, you may be motivated to follow a healthy life style because you want to live longer and at the same time you may be exercising because of not wanting to become skinny.

The Problem with the "Away from" Motivation Style

Let's assume that you are motivated to exercise because you don't want to become too skinny. In this case you won't be that motivated unless you start to lose a lot weight or until you receive a critical comment about your physical appearance.

The result will be staying at the status quo; you won't try to improve yourself, instead you will just try to prevent yourself from losing ground. As you may have already guessed, this strategy will not result in any advancements after a certain point is reached, but it will help you not lose what you've already achieved.

On the other hand, if you exercise because you want to bulk up, your greed will take over and you will find yourself wanting to get bigger and bigger muscles even if you were already in great shape. In this case, greed is not that undesirable. Smiling

Changing Your Motivation Style

Now that we've agreed that the "towards motivation style" is better than the "away from motivation style", how can we change our motivation style?

Suppose your goal was to avoid poverty (to become rich). In this case, instead of looking at how much you spend per month, or instead of focusing on your monthly bills, just draw a picture of your dream house and your dream car and hang a copy of the picture in each room in your house.

Motivation and Goal Setting

If you don't have any goals, then don't bother reading about motivation. Motivation is needed only for those who really want something out of life. If you have no goals, you should first visit the goal setting section then come back to the motivation section when you are done with determining what you want to achieve.

Motivation - Effective Strategies for That You Can Start Using Today

Mind Secrets Exposed!

Motivation is a word used to refer to the reason or reasons for engaging in a particular behavior, especially human behavior as studied in psychology and neurophysiology. Intrinsic motivation is when people engage in an activity, such as a hobby, with a internal desire, without obvious external incentives. Extrinsic motivation refers to motivation that comes from outside an individual, such as a reward or a good grade. Extrinsic motivation is often effective. If you want to make positive, lasting change in your life, it helps to spend some time thinking about motivation.

Students

Students perform with higher motivation when their creativity is engaged. Students find as satisfying as reasoning through a problem and discovering the underlying principle on their own. Students are individuals, so a variety of approaches may be needed to motivate different students. Because students are not always internally motivated, they sometimes need situated motivation, which is found in environmental conditions that the teacher creates. Fortunately, many of the strategies that "empower" and "engage" students also lead to increased motivation.

Job

Motivated employees always look for better ways to do a job. Performance is considered to be a function of ability and motivation, thus: Job performance equals ability/motivation). The key words are the ones which say thanks and well done for doing a great job, especially where the words recognize each person's own special ability, quality, contribution and effort. No one knows the job better than the person performing it.

Personal

Personal growth adds value to the individual, enhancing self-esteem and self-worth. Self-actualized people are characterized by: 1) being problem-focused; 2) incorporating an ongoing freshness of appreciation of life; 3) a concern about personal growth; and 4) the ability to have peak experiences.

Experiencing the positive feelings is vital for the conscious and sub-conscious visualization of success and achievement, essential for broadening people's horizons, raising their sights, setting new personal standards and goals, and increasing motivation. The theory is that behavior motivated by an internal desire is more likely to be long-term and more likely to be integrated into your personality than is behavior that is motivated by some external reward. People are best motivated when they are working toward personally meaningful goals whose attainment requires activity at a continuously optimal (intermediate) level of difficulty.

Goal

Goal Setting is extremely important to motivation and success. Goal-setting theory is based on the notion that individuals sometimes have a drive to reach a clearly defined end state. The goal should be objectively defined and intelligible for the individual. Set well defined goals and reward yourself for reaching them. Start with small goals that lead to larger goals.

Conclusion

Motivation to achieve is a function of the individual's desire for success, the expectancy of success, and the incentives provided. Sure, it's possible to succeed with someone else providing the motivation for you. But motivation that comes from within really makes the difference.

The elements of motivation starts with the desire to be free, to be free from dependency on others, freedom to live the lifestyle we dream of, and freedom to explore our ideas. Every day seek inspiration, and it will help sustain motivation over the long term.

HOW TO ATTAIN GREATNESS THROUGH SELF-MOTIVATION

HOW TO ATTAIN GREATNESS THROUGH SELF-MOTIVATION

1. UNDERSTANDING GREATNESS
Greatness is more than success; whereas success is limited to a particular area, at a particular time of one's life, greatness is a wholesome phenomenon. Greatness is a combination of several successes in a person's life that brings him public recognition and personal fulfillment. It is an immeasurable state of achievement in life.

A great warrior is one who has fought and won several battles and wars. In life there are several battles, some are spiritual, while some are physical.
These battles go on in different areas such as finances, family, friends, health, business, education, leadership and even religion etc. When success is attained in all or majority of these areas, then the person who attains such successes can be branded as a great personality.

You are not truly great until other people become successful through your direct or indirect input. To be great in life, you need to be committed to ensuring that you raise several successful people in your LIFE'S NETWORK.
Your greatness is only confirmed by the testimonials from this network of successful people. The bottom line is; you can never be great without impacting positively on other people.

2. WHAT IS SELF-MOTIVATION
Motivation is an inducement with a motive that causes motion or action. There is a motive behind every action and this motive produces a force that enhances the performance or outcome of that action.
A man who is motivated or induced with a motive will naturally perform better than a man without any form of motivation. The absence of motivation produces nonchalance and/or laziness.
Failure is a result of inaction and inaction is a result of lack of motivation, failure also is antagonistic to motivation. It can kill motivation when given the chance.
A great man is one who has learnt how to handle his failures and fears.

Self-motivation therefore is the act of staying focused on your motive and translating its power into a productive action with positive result.
It is an internal push within a person that causes him to take action in line with his motive. Self-motivation makes you active. It is the activation of a person's life caused by the motives in his heart.
I boldly prescribe Self-motivation as the antidote for laziness and failure.

3. ATTAINING GREATNESS
To be great in life, you need to be a proactive person and the motive behind all you do on a daily bases should be hinged on attaining greatness.
When your state of mind is centered around greatness, it will make you to be two things:
A. An active person
B. A peoples person

You need to work and you need to be people conscious if you must be great. You do not necessarily have to do hard work but you need to work hard and better still, you need to work smart. Your aim should be to make as much people as you can successful in life.
This consciousness will keep you self-motivated at all times because you will always have what to do and you will always meet people who need your help.
So, stay motivated with good motives and your greatness in life with time will become obvious.
P.S. In order to remain self-motivated and become great, you need to read books, hang around great people and hear things that are in line with your motive: in this case - GREATNESS

Mind Secrets Exposed!

Motivation For You, Me And Everyone Else!

Unlock the Potential of Your Mind

So, how can you find motivation in the little things in life? Here are some thoughts and some tips to help!

Finding Motivation in the Little Things

Are you one of those people that have a difficult time finding the motivation to get things done? One of the biggest misconceptions in life is that motivation will simply fall into your lap and everything will be great! C'mon - surely you know this is not what actually happens in the real world. Success is all about action! Take action now!

Some people wait for something "big" to happen and they fool themselves into thinking they will suddenly have this rush of motivation that they need to complete a task or to get through a really tough time. So, of course, when this just doesn't happen, people become dejected and just completely give up on whatever they were looking for motivation for in the first place!

This is just not the way to go! Instead of waiting for motivation to magically appear, why not try creating your own motivation? Why? because you can... and it's easier than you might think!

Finding Little Things to Motivate You

The first thing to do is to ensure you have an environment that is conducive to healthy motivation.

What does this mean? Well, it simple terms, it means you need a clutter-free workspace, a computer monitor at a comfortable height and a comfortable chair at your desk. Ergonomics plays a big part in positive energy. If you are not comfortable, these things can zap you of your energy and motivation in a big hurry.

How can you expect yourself to be motivated if you have a sore neck or a sore back all day long? You'll be too busy worrying about carpal tunnel or back spasms and you'll need to get off task every 5 minutes to adjust your positioning!

Have you actually asked yourself this?: "How much better would I feel and would my attitude change if I worked in a place that I actually liked to spend time in?" I know the answer! Think about it - so do you!

The moment you sort out your work environment and make it comfortable for yourself and content with your needs, you'll instantly take action, find the motivation to get started and follow through.

So, how do you identify your motivational factors?

Everyone has different and unique motivational factors. That means what works for your co-workers or friends may not work for you. What you need to do is determine the unique things that excite and motivate you. I reward myself with my favorite snack (chocolate!....lol) after completing an important task! Now here's a bonus! Give yourself a bonus! After you have spent all this time achieving whatever it is - give yourself a pat on the back (and a chocolate bar...lol!) and reward yourself for a job well done!

I find more motivation by sprinkling mini-rewards throughout my day for each little task I tick off my daily to-do list. When you keep your motivational factors simple, you'll keep the pressure off and get more done in less time - what a bonus!

How to Find Motivation on the Computer

Even your computer can be a source of motivational energy. Find a great personal development site and bookmark it! Look at this sites motivational quotes stories or other when you need that extra boost and just might just find the inspiration and motivation you need to soldier on!

Find a free inspiring wallpaper for your computer and download it. There are plenty of motivational images and quotes, so there's no shortage of motivation right on your desktop. You can refresh your desktop wallpaper every day, week, or month if you want.

Using the power of motivating imagery is free and requires little time. This method is a prime example of finding motivation in the little things. So go get started and have a productive day!

How To Stay Motivated

I receive many emails from people that basically ask the same question: How can I keep myself motivated long term? The biggest reason people quit their business projects is because they are not MOTIVATED!
This seems to be quite a common dilemma for many people so I want to address it because it can be done! Here are my top six tips for staying motivated:

1. Get motivated every day.

Zig Ziglar was once confronted about being a "motivational-speaker." The guy said to him, "You guys come and get people hyped up and then you leave and the motivation goes away. It doesn't last, and then you have to get motivated again." Zig reminded the gentleman that baths are the same way but we think it is a good idea to take a bath every day! It is true that motivation doesn't last. We have to renew it each and every day. That is okay. It doesn't make motivation a bad thing. We simply have to realize that if we want to stay motivated over the long term, it is something we will have to apply to ourselves each and every day.

2. Have a vision for your life.

The root word of motivation is "motive." The definition of motive is, "A reason to act." This is the cognitive or rational side of motivation. It is your vision. You have to have a vision that is big enough to motivate you. If you are making $40,000/£20,000 a year, it isn't going to motivate you to set your goal at $44,000/£22,000 a year. You just won't get motivated for that because the reward isn't enough.
Maybe $400,000/£200,000 a year would work for you. Set out a vision and a strategy for getting there. Have a plan and work the plan.

3. Fuel your passion.

Much of motivation is emotional. I don't know quite how it works but I do know THAT it works. Emotion is a powerful force in getting us going. Passion is an emotion, so fuel your passion. "Well, I like to work on logic," you may say. Great, now work on your passion. Set yourself on a course to have a consuming desire for your goal, whatever it is. Do whatever you can to feel the emotion and use it to your advantage!

4. Work hard enough to get results.

You can build on your motivation by getting results. The harder you work, the more results you will get and the more results you get, the more you will be motivated to get more. These things all build on one another. If you want to lose weight, then lose the first few pounds. When the belt moves to the next notch you will get fired up to get it to the notch beyond that!

5. Put good materials into your mind.

I can't say this enough - listen to CD's/mp3's. I always listen to CDs/mp3's regularly. I buy CDs/mp3's from motivational speakers/manifestation mentors and I learn and grow. Their successes motivate me to get my own successes! Read good books. Read books that teach you new ideas and skills. Read books that tell the stories of successful people. Buy them, read them, and get motivated! Make sure that you read the three ebooks that you will receive after you sign up to my list. Master key system, Speed wealth, Think and grow rich! (READ THEM) Uplifting music is fantastic also. I know guys who have run the 26 miles of the London Marathon having 'Eye of The Tiger' from the Rocky movies on repeat on their iPods! For me personally nothing get me going more than dance music. What's your thing? The bottom line is that good music gets you going and MOTIVATES YOU!

6. Ride the momentum when it comes.

Sometimes you will just be clicking and sometimes you won't. That is okay. It is the cycle of life. When you aren't clicking, plug away. When you are clicking, pour it on because momentum will help you get larger gains in a shorter period of time with less energy. That is the Momentum Equation! When you are feeling good about how your work is going, ride the momentum and get as much out of it as you can!

These are simple principles, that when you put them to work regularly, will change your life by keeping you motivated all the time! Get going! I hope this will help you reassess your current situation and motivate you to start your own home based business today. Remember: Quitters NEVER Win & Winners Never Quit!

Keeping Your Workforce Motivated During a Recession

Employee motivation is linked to both employee productivity and job performance. While some would argue that fear of redundancy is one of today's most powerful motivators in the workplace, organizations will always need the most talented individuals to succeed. Whilst keeping them motivated during a recession can be tough - as budgets are frozen and bonuses are slashed - there are alternatives to cold, hard cash to help keep your workforce onside in these difficult economic climes. Psychologists have been studying motivation for decades; from Spranger's identification of individual attitudes in the 1920's to Maslow's hierarchy of needs in the 1950's, through to Hogan's taxonomy of motives, values and interests in the 1990's and beyond. They have reviewed and categorized the values, interest and preferences that motivate us to behave in the ways we do. As business psychologists at Pearn Kandola we understand what motivates people in organizations, so here are our top tips for managers motivating on a budget:-

1. Know your workforce - I'm not sharing any trade secrets when I say that your workforce is made up of individuals - living, breathing people, who all have their own personalities, thoughts and motivations. Rule number one is that Managers should identify individual motivators in their team (aside from money) and target their actions accordingly.

2. Recognition - this has been identified by eminent psychologists such as Henry Murray as a key motivator. The most obvious way to do this is through positive feedback. Although it may be forgotten, particularly in times of pressure and stress, a simple pat on the back can give people a real boost. However, avoid overusing this or being too general - "you're doing a great job" has much less impact than "thank you for the additional work you put in to the report, the board were really impressed with the new ideas it contained".

Otherwise, try including a mention in the company newsletter or acknowledgement in a public meeting. But remember, while some people will revel in the public praise, others will cringe and want the world to swallow them up - so refer back to Rule Number One - know your staff!

3. Power - defined by psychologists as the need for control, challenge and getting ahead, some people are motivated by power. While there may be a recruitment and promotion freeze on, are there any opportunities to motivate your staff by offering them increased responsibility or a high status project that will allow them to raise their profile?

4. Hedonism - other staff may be motivated by opportunities for excitement, pleasure and variety, even at work! The entertaining budget may have been cut to nothing but having a project catch up meeting in an art gallery café, a review in the park on a sunny day, or bringing in freshly baked croissants for a breakfast meeting won't break the bank. Alternatively, to reward hard work without increasing outgoings are you able to offer an additional day's holiday or an enrichment day? Some people may even pick these above a salary increase if given the choice.

5. Altruism - some of your staff may be motivated by a concern for social justice and improving society. For them, if a pay freeze means that their hard work cannot be rewarded with a rise - could a 'community day' be offered instead? This reward would allow someone to take time to help others in their community - it could even build relationships with potential clients! If workloads have dropped significantly, are there opportunities to offer unpaid leave for charity or voluntary work?

6. Affiliation - company and social interaction can also be a powerful motivator for individuals, so don't forget to allow time for this. Where heads are down and people are working hard, there may be less opportunity for water cooler catch ups. However, there may be options for lunchtime 'get togethers'. For example, bring your own lunch for a picnic in the park or, alternatively, after work social activities. These don't necessarily need to be sponsored and paid for by the company. Again, these won't be for everyone (see Rule number one) and should be varied to make sure everyone who wants to be can be included - so make sure it's not always five-a-side football or trips to the pub.

7. Security - at a physical level security is one of the more basic items in Maslow's hierarchy of needs. However, many people are also motivated at a psychological level by a concern for security and minimising risk, otherwise known in the workplace as job security. Those who are strongly motivated by security are likely to find the current climate particularly difficult. Managers can help these people to identify what is within their control to help increase both the performance of the organisation and, therefore, their job security. This could be done by identifying the links between the role and the performance of the organisation. This can also be achieved through feedback - being clear on what constitutes good performance and how performance can be improved. This can help to motivate by giving a greater sense of control.

8. Business performance - some people are motivated by targets and achieving their goals. Current targets might seem unattainable or unrealistic in this financial climate, and have the potential to demotivate these individuals. As a manager, review these targets: there may be no scope to change them but can you put in place additional, more achievable targets for them to work towards? For example, in addition to sales targets, could you also set business development activities targets? Alternatively, are there ways to breakdown targets to make them seem more manageable?

Overall though, the key to motivating people is to treat them as individuals -a 'thank you' bottle of champagne for someone who doesn't drink is about as motivating as a Liverpool scarf for an Everton fan. One of the current challenges for businesses is finding creative and imaginative ways to motivate their staff for minimal outlay. Although some of our tips above aren't necessarily 'free' - an extra day's holiday has a price attached and should be considered as part of the wider context if it is offered an ongoing benefit -they should provide a useful basis for the ways, beyond bonuses and pay rises, managers can motivate staff in these challenging times.

Self Improvement and Motivation

Self Improvement and motivation are usually in a yin and yang relationship. They can at times be locked in a combat for supremacy, but other times self improvement and motivation are traveling buddies, arm-in-arm, each carrying the other.

Self improvement is the goal and motivation is the means to get there. Sometimes the horse gallops, other times he's kicking and bucking you off his chaffed saddle. To say that one depends upon the other is an understatement, as it may be said we only ever do that which we've been motivated to at any given moment.

Even given a situation in which one finds him or herself under heavy duress, people can find themselves committing either acts of heroism or villainy, seemingly against the odds.

First, let's consider the objects of this dynamic relationship. The obvious problem is that it is we who are the objects of such a discussion. It is our self improvement and motivation that is under question, and therein is our biggest problem. We are ever-changing and helplessly dependent beings. We begin life derived from our parents. Our existence and mood depends upon things mostly out of our control. We may pack an umbrella and predict the next storm but are powerless to stop or start the deluge. As our frustration at the daunting reality of being a frail human tempts us to lose focus of our goal (self improvement or otherwise), our mood becomes an ocean liner's anchor on a kayak and drags us down.

What to do in this bleak situation? Are we doomed to failure at every turn? How do we succeed in motivating ourselves to improve ourselves?

Knowing our limits is really the first step to freedom from perpetual depression and frustration, actually. It has been my observation and personal experience that solving any problem begins with its identification. Problem: we are unable to change everything we would like to change. Why is that so important? Simple: it frees us from the tyranny of trying to move Granite Mountains by banging our heads harder into them. Our solutions to our obstacles in life then become more realistic. Instead of moving the granite monolith mocking our progress by pulverizing our skulls upon their immovable faces, we can simply climb. We can go around the long way. We can hitch a ride upon any number of vehicles designed to overcome such obstacles. We have options! This realization further frees us from the tyrant of frustration. We aren't as helpless as we'd first thought.

We are only doomed to failure and misery if we attempt the same thing a thousand times, complaining all the way that our attempts are getting us nowhere. Naturally that would be the case, granite doesn't mind if you pound your flesh upon its face. You will lose every time, and perhaps complain that it hurts. Whatever you do, once you've identified such a blockade to progress, find another path around or over the obstacle. Exploring options, even grim options we may not have bothered to consider heretofore, will go a long way towards motivating us to continue. The quest for self improvement at this juncture is stymied: delayed, but not lost. There is hope.

Continuing the journey of self improvement will require a dogged determination to reach the goal, even if it feels as if our engine of motivation has quit along the way. By the way, motivation isn't merely "feeling like going on," rather that is merely emotion or mood. Mood is a very important character in the play, but often a doppelganger for motivation. Motivation is that dogged and central drive within us that is connected somehow to adrenaline and other hormones in our body. We fight or flee when we're most motivated to do so. Motivation is sometimes helped and other times hindered by mood. Running the marathon of self improvement means our motivation must not be confused with our mood. Only when our mood becomes the wind driving our motivational sails can we allow mood to play a key role. Other times, mood can become a champion fighter in the opposite corner of the ring. We must fight against it or ignore it when our motivation to continue is subdued by a negative mood or attitude.

Practically speaking, it's rather elementary to discover ways to motivate ourselves. Just about every motivator we know was introduced to us in grade school or in our mother's lap. We are motivated by love, motivated by the prize of time and quality of life...and we're all motivated a little differently. To one, money is a huge motivator. To another, simply eating a square meal propels him forward. My advice to you is this: when you set out on this course of self improvement and motivation becomes an issue, think of where you've been and where you're going. Set your face like flint against going back to who and what you're "improving from," the old you, and remind yourself why you thought self improvement and motivation were really all that important in the first place.

To get you motivated, set up milestones, little goals for yourself along the way, and celebrate like mad when you've reached those mini goals. Defer things such as a date night, and use it rather as a carrot to motivate you to complete a milestone. That term "milestone," by the way, can be a simple baby step. It should be an attainable goal, such as getting up half an hour early each day or cutting back on the third serving. If the milestone is a change in habit, then celebrate when you've gone a week consistently making progress in that change.

Whatever happens, there is no turning back. Keeping yourself motivated by keeping yourself focused on the prize and not the problems along the way will be the wind at your back. Remember that the biggest motivator is hope. Cling to hope. If you can't find any, ask someone to help give you some. There's plenty to go around, and you'll find that even the smallest morsel of hope becomes a feast when you've been famished for it. Enjoy the trip, self improvement and motivation will soon become more reward and less work as you accomplish your goals along the way.

Have you ever noticed that some people manage to be motivated ALL the time? They just seem to have some secret technique that helps them keep it all together. Whatever new thing life throws at them, they just take it in stride and go with the flow. Often, things we never think we'll achieve are actually quite attainable. Hypnosis motivation and other " target="blank">mind motivations are two of the things we'll be talking about to help you on your way.

THAT Person
Whether it be sitting for exams, cleaning the backyard, wanted to work harder, the zest to earn more money or the way they have fantastic relationships with everyone they come into contact with, watching OTHER people be motivated simply isn't enough to motivate most people in turn. What's stopping you? Is it that the other person better looking? Or that they come from a better family? Maybe they have a better job, a better car, better financial security or perhaps they are just plain luckier than you? Be honest, how many times have you been green with envy over a colleague getting a higher pay rise, or your best mate buying a big house. What would you say if I told you all these "negative" thoughts are, in fact, POSITIVE?

See the Signals
It may not seem like it, but these jealous, negative or self-depreciating thoughts are actually really good because they are signals for you to watch out for. What do they signal? That something needs to change. If you are quietly watching everyone else accomplish what you want to accomplish yourself, it's a signal to get your head in the game, because you are MORE than capable. You know it, but there's something holding you back. You might not think it's your motivation to commit to the certain goal you have in mind, but if there's something else there - it's your motivation to face what's stopping you that is really getting in the way. Now we're going to discuss a few techniques, like hypnosis and mind motivations, to help you do something about it.

Hypnosis Motivation
Hypnosis motivation is becoming an increasingly popular way for people to keep themselves on track when it comes to getting what they want. A good example of this in practice is as weight loss motivation. You might think that the idea of looking slimmer is enough weight loss motivation but more often than not, it simply isn't. Some people turn to friends to help keep them on track through group gym sessions, some people turn to healthy eating programs and others turn to a " target="blank">motivation hypnotherapist. The idea of a motivation hypnotherapist is that he or she helps you to strengthen your conviction to achieve a particular goal. For example, you might want to loose weight and become healthier. When it comes to weight loss motivation there are many directions from which a motivation hypnotherapist may approach. Do you have any eating problems? Are you an emotional eater? Do you have a tendency to binge? Are you simply unable to resist certain foods? A motivation hypnotherapist can help you identify why you have these problems and once you know what they are, you can plan a strategy for confronting the problems. It's funny how some of the challenges life throws at us seem unsurmountable when we really just have to teach ourselves the proper way of facing them. A motivation hypnotherapist can also help to reinforce your conviction to loose weight on a subconscious level.

Neuro Linguistic Programming
If you have an emotional problem like hurt, stress, anxiety, fear, guilt or sadness, your mind motivation solution is the Neuro Linguistic Program. What is this? It's an amazingly powerful model of human experiences and communication that arose from the studies of three "master psychotherapists" - basically, researchers identified the communication patterns which supposedly made Fritz Perls, Virginia Satir and Milton Erickson more successful than their peers. Using NLP as a technique individuals like you or me can learn strategies to develop our behaviour. Some points of NLP are knowing what outcome you want and being flexible in your behaviour, generating different kinds of behaviour to see what response you get and having enough sensory experience to recognise when you get the result you want. This model is a kind of mind motivator which can make many of the difficulties in life disappear. Using it, you can put spins on the events in your life so that pain becomes pleasure and with this, we can change our lives for the better. Finding out more about NLP and other mind motivations, and using them in your day-to-day life is the most successful way to change your life from procrastination to a positive energized life of motivation. How you feel about yourself in the present moment is the very source of all your behaviour. Your behaviour creates your life. So what are you waiting for?

How to Stay Motivated and Reach Your Goals

Motivation-we're all chasing it, but few of us understand it, or why we lose it in the first place.

What Is Meant By Motivation?

Motivation is the natural desire to reach a goal, combined with the passion and energy to work toward achieving that goal. Individuals who are motivated have a desire to take on new ventures and fulfil the requirements necessary to complete the task.

Motivation is a characteristic that we all require in order to achieve anything in our lives. Without motivation, we would all simply give up at the slightest inclination of adversity. Motivation is the instigator that inspires and encourages us to be our best. Someone who is motivated will do anything it takes to be successful in achieving their goals.

Motivation can change your life by inspiring you to get everything you want out of life, no matter what other people try to tell you. It is possible for someone who is stricken by poverty to become motivated and turn everything around into a life of abundance.

Motivation gives us the passion that we need to begin exploring our options in life as well as the courage to see these dreams through to reality. If you are unhappy with your current situation, it is most likely due to the fact that your current situation does not motivate you. You must take it upon yourself to determine what it is that you truly want out of life.

Think about the type of lifestyle that you want to lead and the kind of career you want. Once you know what makes you happy and change your life centre, you will be excited to jump out of bed each and every morning.

Why We Lose Our Motivation

Three primary factors lead to the loss of our motivation, they are:

1. Lack of direction. You will not be motivated to achieve your goals if you do not know what those goals are.

2. Lack of confidence. Believing you will fail is the best way to ensure it.

3. Lack of focus. Not knowing what it is that you want will lead to wondering if you even want anything at all.

Tips on How to Stay Motivated

When you lack motivation, you also lack ambition, enthusiasm and zest. Motivation makes you feel as if you are full of life and ready to do anything you have to in order to reach the goals that you have set out for yourself. Once you find your motivation, you will be happier, you will have more energy and you will be able to see the positive results clearly in your mind.

You need to enhance the motivation within you and awaken your inner power to push yourself in the direction of fulfilling your dreams, no matter how great or small they may be.

Here are a few tips to help you find your motivation and hold on to it:

· Set goals. If you set goals for yourself, finding the motivation to reach those goals will come easier.

· Finish everything you start. Make a promise to yourself that no matter what happens, you must always make it to the finish line.

· Mingle with like minds. Positive attitudes seem to be contagious. Surround yourself with like minded people who possess the motivation that you seek.

· Do not put off for tomorrow what you can get done today. If you procrastinate, you will become lazy and lose all motivation to succeed.

· Never give up. Patience and persistence to keep going and stay strong no matter what comes along will give you the motivation you need to succeed.

Constantly remind yourself that you can succeed. Visualize your goals and how happy you will be once you have everything you want.

Overcome by paradigm shift....

All our dreams can come true - if we have the courage to pursue them....

You can overcome this....

If you want it badly enough, there are no limits on what you can achieve....

Self Help to Motivation - Boost Your Own Morale

Motivation is something that may drive a person towards success, and it is crucial to possess an inner motivation to view life in an optimistic way. As every person is different from another, self help to motivation also varies based on the priorities, as something that is motivating to you, may not catch the interest of the other. Motivation is not easy, as identifying it in you and the requirement you want in life sometimes is tough to figure out. However, putting the facts ahead and taking charge of the reins is the right attitude to boost motivation.

A very important thing to motivation is to ensure a healthy self worth dose and to figure out personal motivators by asking them to work for you. Believing in your own self and abilities, without creating any artificial limitations, and thereby enhancing your potentials is the right path to self help to motivation. For a motivated person the determination should be stronger, and hence being detoured owing to discouragement or minor challenges coming along the way is less likely.

Self help to motivation stems a good feeling and increases the self esteem. These are some of the critical components that is inside every person, and the significant point is to take time to peep inside as well as to unleash your potentials. For a happy as well as successful life, motivation is a must to accomplish success in life. This is accomplished by knowing the desires in life such as what and how you want things in life and this leads to motivation. Similarly, being enveloped with positive people who really care and love you is very essential to acquire success. If you have a negative environment, it is certain to affect the performance and will loosen the grip of motivation.

Setting goals make people more positive and motivated to work towards it and the moment one views success of accomplishing things in life as per the desire; they stay motivated to do more things. Self help to motivation has its main foundation in self believing, and having a low self-esteem affects the life negatively. Taking the lead and challenging it with full motivation is possible only when a person is prepared to accept self help. Similarly, to stay motivated read positive books as it assists in growing in leaps and bonds.

There are times when people feel things are out of control, hopeless and the motivation spirit seems to be disappearing. This is the time for keeping in mind how to react properly and forcefully, which shall lead to the right path to motivation. Identify the positive concepts and pinpoint the questions to yourself and start answering them, and thereby you will realize that this is an authentic way to self help to motivation, even in bad situations. On realizing the slight glimmering hope, start digging underneath and identify the source of worry and face it boldly with safety and self-respect.

Motivation is to face any hindrance and to be in action, even if it is small, is the surest way to hold your head strong and to move in the desired direction. Such motivation will never let you fall and this all depends on your attitude. Staying always motivated is tough, but with self help support retaining the motivation should be strong.

What Happens When Motivation Fails

When we put forth a constant effort to be positive and behave in a positive manner, yet the day comes to an end and you are lacking that motivation. What causes this type of motivational failure? How can we beat it?

There are probably two very different types of individuals that ask this question:

1) The Individual Being Motivated: Employee, Student, Daughter, Son, etc. These are the types of individuals that normally receive motivation from a motivator, or are guided along the self motivation path. Yet they have trouble finding motivation.

2) The Individual Motivator: Manager, Teacher, Mother, Father, etc. These are the types of individuals who inspire motivation, help guide motivation, and require self motivation. Yet they too find it hard to stay motivated.

Understanding the problem and finding a solution may vary upon individuals. The first group has lost confidence and need a bit of a nudge now and again. They are finding themselves and need to be guided along the pathway of motivation. It is important to note that this group tends to need motivation defined by someone else before they see it within themselves. They have to learn to set attainable goals. They must create a version of success within their own minds and follow their own path. They may need help along the way, but they'll make it.

The second group has to have an understanding of individualism and understand the fact that everyone is different. Nothing is set in stone, and what motivates one individual may not work for another. They have to be willing to help change the attitudes of others. Attitudes cause behavioural problems when they are out of synch with the individual. These are tell tale signs that more guidance is needed, and that the individual has yet to be motivated properly. When this group gets down they must reflect inward and look for the changes and adjustments they can make within their own lives.

Let's look at some of the things that motivate people. Some people are motivated by an example. A teacher gives guidance and motivates students by showing a positive attitude. The students pick up on this and exemplify that attitude. Some people are motivated by money. A manager and employee; the manager sets a bonus for productivity and the employee works toward that. A criminal and a police officer; the criminals actions are normally motivated by the fear of being caught and the thrill of getting away with something illegal. Fear can be a very powerful motivator. There are as many different types of motivators as there are people, and each individual is motivated by something unique to them. Some will be the same as others and others will be totally independent.

The idea is that with the right attitude and proper motivation, anyone can pick themselves back up. Some people may need help, others just need time. Overall it just depends on the individual and what motivates them.

The Secret to Lifelong Gym, Workout and Exercise Motivation

Are you one of those people who occasionally watches 'motivational videos' on youtube? Perhaps you're someone who needs to listen to their favorite 'motivational music' when working out. Or maybe you have to see yourself in the mirror to get motivated to do a workout? (or do something similar to 'find motivation')

Would you believe me if I told you that I (and many others) don't need to use these 'motivational tips' to be motivated? You see, the secret to lifelong motivation for your gym routine, for lifelong motivation for your workout, or lifelong motivation to do exercise is not outside of you, it's inside, and it wants to get out.

All you need to do is unleash it.

My goal is to show you how, so you never have to suffer from a lack of motivation again or the unreliable ups and downs that come from using 'motivation tips', 'motivation tricks', motivational videos' or any sort of motivational tactic that's outside of you. Why do you need this change to your motivational routine?

Let me answer that with a question; Would you rather be in control, or leave your sense of control to fate? I sure know which I would prefer. I know that when I take control of my ability to motivate myself I feel better, have better workouts, enjoy life more, feel more in control, feel happier AND get more of what I want. To help you with this I have developed a program that takes you from out of control of your ability to motivate yourself, to in control, feeling good and able to motivate yourself anytime you want to. I did this because I want to help you, and thousands like you, free yourself from the ravages of motivational ups and downs. And because of the feedback I have received from everyone that's tried this program I know it works, and it will work for you to.

How do you 'train motivation'?

The first thing you probably want to do is think of motivation as a skill, when you do this you will eventually realise that motivation is something that you can train, improve, strengthen with exercises and get totally under your control. Just like any skill, motivation is open to improvement. You just need to be shown the right way to practice.

Have you heard that saying, 'practice makes perfect'? Well it's only partly true, really it should say, 'perfect practice makes perfect'. So what you need is a system that shows you how to practice in a way that's perfect for you. This complete system of motivation training takes you from complete beginner to super advanced, shows you how to know what to do, makes you feel in control and gives you the dedication you have been missing. In addition to that, this motivation training course is fully supported by a personal backup email service that ensures you always have someone to talk to, to ask questions and find help from.

Just think for a moment what it would be like for you to feel good about planning, doing and enjoying your exercise or gym routine. Take a moment to ponder all the benefits to you from becoming totally in control of your level of motivation, able to change it whenever you need to. How would you feel if you were able to do this?

And, finally, think about what it would sound or look like for you to understand that you never have to worry again about doing what you need to do, because you find it easy, enjoyable and pleasurable. Really take your time to get into these benefits, really live them, take them on board and make them your own. How good does it feel?

This could be your first step to taking control of your feelings of motivation, and in a way it already is; the process of learning how to take control of your motivation is all about how your brain is programmed, and all you need to do now is continue that process.

Find Out More About The Motivation Of Improving Your Mind Powers

Motivating yourself and using your own mind powers is a necessary aspect of achieving any goal that you can think of. While most of us might think that motivating ourself must come solely from inside of us or from our own mind powers, external forces of motivation are also very valuable in helping to keep us motivated.

While external motivational factors might be simple to find it is also true that they show the least amount of true motivational force. Once the external factor is removed you are left with nothing but your own thoughts and self to deal with. While motivation by using your own mind powers might be more difficult to come by, once you learn the secrets of using this form of motivation you can call upon it at any time.

By using your mind powers in a consistent and methodical way you can achieve your goals and gain the results that you might be looking for more easily. Digging deep into one's self and using one's own mind powers is the more logical place for most people to search for motivation but external forms of motivation should not be overlooked. These are the methods of motivation that we wish to talk about now.

Four Most Common Forms Of Extrinsic Motivating Factors:

Recognition From People We Work With

The power of our peers can be a powerful motivational force that you should be seeking out as you work towards your goals. Team building and mastermind groups can help you to really put legs under your thoughts, goals and dreams. The power of a good team and the cohesive nature of team work and team dynamic can boost you and motivate you beyond what you might be able to manage alone as thoughts and ideas are exchanged and built upon. Keep an eye out for acceptance and motivation from your peers and coworkers.

Acceptance By A Mentor

Gaining the acceptance or recognition from a respected mentor can be the ultimate in motivation. Having a mentor should be a must when you set out to achieve any goal but gaining the praise of one that you have chosen as a mentor can catapult your motivation to new heights and help to push you further than you ever imagined in achieving your goals.

Recognition From Family

Gaining the acceptance, understanding and admiration from friends and family can also be a strong motivational force. After all, who knows you better than your friends and your family and who will be more honest with you than those that love you. Garnering the power of recognition from friends and family who believe in you can be one of the most powerful motivational forces that can surround you at a moments notice.

Now that we have explored a few of the external forms of motivation that you can use on a regular basis to push you towards success in achieving your goals, it should be said that these are not the only external forms of motivation. These are simple the most common and most easily utilized forms of external motivation. While you might wish to do it all on your own and utilize your own mind powers you really can benefit from using external forms of motivation. In achieving any goal that you can think of it simple becomes necessary to seek out others to help keep you motivated.

Next, your brain is the most powerful super computer in the world and it capable of performing beyond what we might ever imagine. Inside of each of us is a force that can create and achieve the most impossible goals. Although we might not quite understand it yet completely we do know that there are untapped riches within us that can be accessed by using our own <a href="http://www.awakenmindpower.com">mind powers</a>.

Everyone needs some form of motivation to get them to do anything. This really means "sufficient reason" for doing it. It can take very little to motivate someone to do something pleasurable. It can take quite extreme circumstances to get that same person to do something objectionable.

The key point is that what constitutes sufficient motivation can be judged only by the person being motivated. Circumstances that would motivate one person will leave another unmoved. The task of a Manager lies firstly in assessing what will motivate an individual and secondly in applying that motivation.

Everyone is constantly subjected to a variety of motivating factors. The more basic the factor, the stronger it is in determining the course of action which will be taken.

Beware of the common management concept of motivation - it can be briefly described as falling into two general classifications.

* The Carrot

* The Big Stick

The Carrot:

This concept is based on the assumption that money always motivates. This is a fallacy - it does not. It will always depend on whether the person to be motivated considers it worth it. Do they need the money sufficiently to make the added work or responsibility that goes with it worthwhile? Only if the answer is "yes" - in his view, not yours - will it motivate them.

The Big Stick:

Using the "Big Stick" technique - offering some kind of threat, such as "The Sack" if there is not a visible improvement in performance - does motivate people. The trouble is that you, as the Motivator, cannot control what effect the motivation may have.

However you wrap up the big stick, it will seen by those who are to be motivated, as a threat to their "Shelter/Security". That provides a very basic motivational drive. Faced with such a threat they may decide that it is not worth the effort or that they are incapable of it. The result, so far as you are concerned, is that they start looking for another job. Far from improving, they actually get worse - because their efforts are going into job hunting.

On the other hand they may decide that they will achieve the required improvement. Their "Shelter/Security" has been threatened. If they decide to do what you want their sole concern will be to remove that threat.

So far as their job situation is concerned they will not be motivated by "Acceptance by Equals", "Leadership" or "Self Fulfilment". They will do everything necessary to rescue their "Shelter/Security". This will often involve actions that upset other members of your team. As a result, motivating one person may have caused considerable dissent in others.

So - if that does not work, what does?

Firstly, remember that motivation can only be provided by something in the future. You cannot motivate from behind by - for example - gratitude. Just because they had a big pay rise last year will not motivate them this year. That pay rise will be regarded as "thanks" past efforts.

Next, find a way of using the basic triangle of motivation. This can be done by translating those basics into a series of needs. Everyone is subjected constantly to one of these needs - it is up to you to find out which will work as a motivator in this case. These needs are:-

To Have - Basic Possessions

Be - Their Image

Do - To Achieve

Belong - To Be Wanted

Grow - To Develop

Find the appropriate "needs" and use it.

So much for the factors concerned with providing a positive motivation. There are other factors which provide negative motivation - reasons for not doing something.

Negative motivational factors cannot be cancelled out by positive factors. Negative and positive factors always remain separate. All that you can do with a negative factor is remove it - to the extent that "they who are being motivated" considers that it no longer exists.

Signs of Negative Motivation are:-

-Aggression - against people or perhaps the Company.

-Regression - childish or spiteful behaviour.

-Obsession - often with the cause of the frustration.

-Resignation - total disinterest.

If you notice any of these signs in those directly responsible to you, investigate until the reasons are uncovered. Then remove the reason wherever possible. If you do not, the situation may well get worse - even to the point where those concerned will leave your company.

To be effective as a motivator it is essential that you know your staff well. If you do not then opportunities to motivate effectively and therefore efficiency will be lost.

Professor Frederick Hertzberg has promoted a theory of motivation which goes a long way forward from the original theory of "Carrot and Stick", or indeed its extension 'The Reward Theory', still used by many managers and Companies to try and exhort greater efforts from their staff.

It stems from two-statements:-

-What makes people happy and motivated at work, is what they do.

-What makes people unhappy and demotivated at work, is the situation
in which they do it.

Managers are going to have to become familiar with three new letters that are going to become increasingly important in the management of people in the future. The three letters are:-

Q.W.L. - standing for 'The Quality Of Work Life'

Managers, who want to motivate their staff, are going to have to improve their Q.W.L.

This starts by defining people as they are, not as we want them to be. Many workers who we have assumed to have the characteristics which we wanted them to have are now saying: - "We are not like that. Treat me the way I am, not the way you believe me to be".

So the big revolution managers are going to have to face is that of identifying the needs of the people - not their own projected needs.

These needs fall into two categories:- (Continued in Part 2)

Building Self Motivation

Free Hypnosis

Motivation is sometimes tough to maintain, particularly for those who suffer from low self-esteem. However, motivation is integral to our ability to accomplish our goals and even complete tasks throughout our lives. We require daily motivation at work, at home, at the gym and even at play. Sometimes depression can rob us of our motivation and we stagnate. It is a difficult cycle as lack of motivation keeps us from completing tasks, which equates to failure to most people. This failure, in turn, causes people to have even less self-esteem. In order to prevent this, a motivation strategy must be implemented to achieve motivation success. It can be done, but it takes work. It is also important to recognize and overcome some common motivation killers.

Depression is a major motivation killer. People who are depressed will experience a significant decrease in motivation. In order to combat this it may be necessary for the person to use medication therapy to treat the depression. Depression may cause the person to experience a lack of desire to even get out of bed. It may be difficult for the person to leave the house or even to complete daily tasks. A motivation strategy to combat this is for the patient to first get a physical to make sure that the depression is not a symptom of an underlying, serious health condition, and then seek psychological counseling and possible medication therapy. Motivation success is possible if proper steps are taken to seek treatment.

Another condition that will rob a person of their motivation is insomnia and fatigue. Being sleepy all the time can distinctly impact daily motivation. Insomnia can cause excessive daytime sleepiness, or EDS, which can zap a person of their energy, thus destroying their motivation. When lack of motivation turns into failure on projects or daily tasks, a person's self-esteem can be further robbed. He or she may feel like a complete failure and that frame of mind spills over onto other aspects of their life. Of course, treating the insomnia can have a dramatic affect to the person's daily performance. In best-case scenario, motivation will return naturally. However, once the habit of procrastination and lack of motivation is set, it is difficult to break. Motivation success can be accomplished by time management and set time schedules to complete projects. It is important that a person be evaluated by a physician to ensure that the insomnia is not caused by a more serious health issue.

Perhaps the greatest robber of a person's motivation is low self-confidence. Low self-esteem can cause a person to feel that they are unable to effectively complete projects or that if they try they will only fail. This is the most common barrier to a person's motivation success. This goes far beyond just "sucking it up and moving on," it becomes a physical inability to complete or sometimes even begin tasks. Sometimes the project may be too large or overwhelming or the person may lack the organizational skills necessary to be effectively self-motivated. This could range from cleaning a closet to working of a multi-million dollar project at work. All the talent in the world is useless if motivation is lacking. Organization is a good motivation strategy because it breaks down the task into parts that can be accomplished. Another motivation strategy it to set small goals over short periods of time. Try setting daily goals, weekly goals and monthly goals as well as long-term goals. Once you see that you can accomplish your daily goal, you will see that you are not a failure. Extrinsic And Intrinsic Motivations

Have you ever had a problem getting motivated to complete a task that you absolutely had to do? Did you ever just want to throw in the towel and accept that you failed? If so, understand that there are things you can do to be more motivated and to achieve your goals.

What motivates you?
There are two types of motivation that exist: extrinsic motivation and intrinsic motivation. Extrinsic motivation is motivation that is inspired by outside forces, while intrinsic motivation is motivation that is inspired from within a person. Both types of motivation are essential to success. Below you will find different types of extrinsic and intrinsic motivational factors:

Extrinsic Motivation.
-Money
-People around you
-Good grades
-Rewards

Intrinsic Motivation.
-Happiness
-Personal goals, values, and morals
-Willingness and eagerness to learn
-Physiological, social, and self-esteem needs

Both extrinsic and intrinsic motivations push a person to achieve a goal. However,
they do so in different ways. Let us take a look at both of these types of motivations.

Extrinsic motivation:
As shown above, extrinsic motivation comes from rewards and incentives that are positive reinforcements. An example of extrinsic motivation is a student studying and getting an A on an exam because the reward of a ski trip motivated him. Completing a project for work ahead of schedule because an employee knows that raises are coming soon is an example of extrinsic motivation. A teenager may come home from a friend's house right before curfew, just to avoid being grounded. All of these actions are done because the person is trying to avoid some type of punishment or disapproval.

An example of a possible problem with extrinsic motivation is that when the rewards stop, the motivation will come to an end. How do you keep, for example, an employee or child motivated? One solution is spacing out rewards so the person does not receive them all at once. This gives the person something to look forward to. Another thing to do is to make sure the reward cannot cause any negative impact after it. Another thing to do is to try to help the person find a reason to be motivated besides receiving a reward.

Intrinsic Motivation:
Intrinsic motivation comes from within a person. While this motivation is often strong, it is hard to maintain at times - especially when something bad is happening in a person's life. Everyone wants to be happy, to achieve life goals, have high morals and values, have plenty of friends, and simply be able to survive in the world. Intrinsic motivation makes a person strive for these things in daily life. Intrinsic motivation will make a person take a look in the mirror and say, "I can do it." This type of motivation will also make someone take a few minutes and reflect on what is important in his or her life. It will make them question why they are seeking out their goals and what they are willing to risk in order to attain them.

Why is motivation important?
Whether you are trying to achieve something yourself or lead others towards an achievement, the ability to be self-motivated or to motivate is crucial. When we meet people who are regarded as successful or high achievers, it is tempting to assume that they are innately self-driven, or are natural leaders with high levels of motivational ability. This may well be the case, but it is just as likely that they have learned and used some effective techniques for either motivating themselves or to motivate others.

The benefits of motivation to an individual are fairly obvious - people who are motivated tend to be more successful in achieving their personal and professional goals, which in turn has benefits in terms of their self-esteem and confidence. Given that people are usually the most important asset of any organization, motivation is also a critical factor in the overall success of a team or business.

Three golden rules of motivation
Motivation does not take place on its own. In order to be motivated or to motivate others, it is important to remember three golden rules of motivation before considering any specific techniques.

1 Motivation is impossible without clear achievable goals
Motivation and goal setting are inextricably linked. Without a goal or purpose, motivation is meaningless, whilst motivation is a vital part of intentionally achieving any goal. Two of the most basic motivators are to know exactly what you are trying to achieve, and to then go out and achieve it. Not having a clear idea of your goal or not believing that a goal is attainable will severely dent your motivation.

2 Motivation and goals need to be in alignment at every level
How often have you felt that you have been performing well or doing a good job, only to be told by your manager or colleagues that you have been focusing on the wrong thing, that priorities have changed or that you have simply been underperforming? For example, imagine an experienced sales person who has an excellent track record of retaining business with their established customers, but is heavily criticized by their manager for failing to develop as much new business as their less experienced colleague. As a result, the sales person feels alienated, undervalued and ultimately de-motivated. Their performance and results are likely to suffer. The chances are that there has been a lack of dialogue between the manager and the sales person over how individual goals need to fit with the overall goals of the company. If the emphasis is on generating new business, has this been communicated effectively to each sales person, and in a manner which will motivate each of them to succeed?

Every business needs motivated employees in order to be successful and achieve its goals. If employee motivation is not closely matched to these business goals, the chances of success are diminished.

3 Motivation is neither fixed nor infinite
Motivation is not a one-off event. Something which provides motivation at one particular time may not be as effective in the future, due to changes in environment and circumstances. If someone is driven to become the best in their field, how do they maintain their motivation to perform once they reach the pinnacle of their profession? Even if circumstances remain constant, the most powerful motivational factors will lose impact over the course of time. For instance, you may attend a conference and feel energized by a particular speaker or meeting, and leave the event highly motivated to put what you have heard into action. How long will the impact of what you heard last before you slip back into old ways of doing things?

Motivation is a constant process and constantly changes. As an individual or as a leader trying to motivate others, it is vital to remember this.

By taking action and being successful, they realize they could have things that increase the pleasure of their lives. Examples of pleasure motivators include buying a new car, going on vacation, purchasing a new home, etc. People motivate by pain are motivated into action because the lack of taking action will result in some sort of pain in that persons life. People with no outs so to speak and their backs against the wall are people who are motivated by pain. Essentially if these people don't get into action, they risk losing certain things which would cause pain in their lives. The motivation for these people then becomes to avoid that pain. Understand that these are the two primary forms of motivation can allow you to look at your situation and determine which one's would best motivate you.

One last thing you can do to stay motivated which will also help you to make money online from home is to find testimonials of people who have been successful doing what you are trying to do and review them. What is Motivation: Understanding Your Drive

What exactly is motivation? Is it will power? Are we motivated to achieve goals by others inspiring us to do so? What is it that keeps us going day after day without giving up?

Motivation is in psychological terms that which is causes behavior. In other words, motivation is the reason or reasons behind a certain action. Motivation can be based upon basic needs. If we are hungry then we seek out something to eat. Hunger is the motivating factor. Motivation can also be based on higher desire. Once you finish a meal, you may want a piece of cake. You did not need the cake, but you were motivated to get it because it is your favorite kind of cake. Motivation can also be rooted in higher concept. These types of motivations are found in our beliefs and morals. An example is that you wanted to help at a food kitchen because you were motivated to help the poor and less fortunate.

Motivation is governed primarily by reward, a reward being a positive acknowledgment for a given behavior or behavior set. It is the carrot before the mule. You dangle a carrot in front a mule in order to get them to move. There are carrots everyday in your life that are you motivators to achieve certain tasks with the hope of getting the carrot, or reward in the end. Rewards themselves can be either intrinsic or extrinsic. In intrinsic reward can be as simple as self-satisfaction or a feeling of accomplishment. An extrinsic reward can be anything from food to money to love.

Intrinsic and extrinsic rewards can be more or less motivational depending on the person or particular situation. Some people work as volunteers because there is an intrinsic motivation to help without a material reward. Some people need an extrinsic reward of being paid to work and that praise is not enough to keep them involved or motivated. Each person is different. Basic needs have a greater motivational power over our actions than motivation based upon your morale code. Suppose you were starving to death on the street. You might not feel it is right to steal but your need to eat might alter the priority of motivating factors.

Some people are strongly motivated by higher concepts. People that might go on a hunger strike because they believe in a cause may overcome their natural need for food in order to make a morale point. People that have a high sense of religious purpose and motivation often are motivated because of their belief in a higher power. The act based upon a couple of strong motivational factors. 1) They seek to please this higher power; and 2) They do not wish to offend the higher power. Whether or not one's higher concept has truth value, the rationale behind the motivation is logical.

Motivation, as related to the self-help movement at least, is primarily of the type based on higher desire. Individuals want certain things and thus they seek to build a rational basis for that desire as an edifice for the pursuit thereof. Such a motivational base will be successful in as much as the reward consists of both intrinsic and extrinsic elements.

There is the motivation of desire to consider as well. This is in between morale conviction and the necessities of life. These are things that we do not necessarily need, but really want. Desire can be as powerful a motivation as anything else can. It can be the driving force in a person's life. They may even ignore higher concepts and necessities to achieve these goals. A person may want a certain car, a certain body, a certain house a certain job. These are not necessary things but they can drive a person until they achieve them. The advertising industry is built upon this motivational concept.

In the final analysis, a person needs to look at what motivates them. They need to decide what is a necessity, what is a desire, and what is an ideal that by which they are trying to live. These motivations can be in conflict with one another. In order for a person to be truly happy they must balance each of these motivational factors. Each person must decide what truly matters and what can be left behind. Once these goals are sorted out, motivation can easily help us on our way to what we desire in our life.
