Back of the Rack My Brain Music

by
For some odd reason every song I like has a meaning or a memory for me. I am listening to a play list on Myspace. As I write this "Burning For You" by Blue Oyster Cult is playin. The song takes me back to being a private in the army and eating a greasy burger after being up 24 hours in Germany. The song was playing on a jukebox in Hanau, Germany in 1982.

I was interviewed Sunday night by Author Allen Hooker (an outstanding person) who is writing a book on Military people who "have made a difference."
He was asking me questions about different things in my career and life। Almost every incident we discussed had a musical anchor tied to it to it.

"Thunderstruck" by AC/DC takes me to "The Battle of Mogadishu" Oct 3 1993।

Night Moves by Bob Segar takes me to Ohio in the 70's when I lost my innocence to a blonde beauty। 1976.

"I Miss You" by Everything But The Girl takes me to a fabulous underground soju bar in Pusan Korea 1994-1995.
In a previous blog I talk about a song called "The Rooster" by Alice in Chains. There are so many more, you get the picture

When you are in a high emotional peak state, anything you hear, touch, taste or think becomes a Psychological Anchor or Trigger.

The human mind processes about 15 bits of information per second. The subconscious mind processes anywhere from 15 to 40 million bits per second.

Advertisers know the power of this (repetition is the mother of skill) and so does every highly successful person I know. As you look at your emails, myspace, or any website the information that is going into your subconscious is incredible.

What are some of your favorite songs that trigger a time or a place that helped create the person you are today?

If there are any negative trigger songs, destructive thoughts or behaviors you can re-anchor them to something empowering (as I did with "The Rooster").
Get into a peak emotional state and fire off something in your thoughts. As you do this move your body a new way and yell something with emotion like BAM!! or Swoosh!! Do this 10 times if you have to. Sounds silly I know but man is it ever fun to know I am in charge of my emotions!

I Love you

I like the idea of being in charge of one's emotions.
We take responsibility to be emotionally sound and to keep our emotions healthy.
Thanks for your recent visit to my blog. I post twice a week. On weekends, I post Blog Church, and then I post once midweek about whatever silliness is on my mind at the time.
Retrain Your Brain - I like that whole concept!
