Top Five Natural Remedies for Depression

Top Five Natural Remedies for Depression

By
naturalremediesfordepressionNearly 20 million people in America suffer from depression every year.
The conventional treatment for depression that most doctors use is prescription antidepressants; drugs which are effective for many people.
For others, little to no difference is made with conventional treatment. Some researchers even claim that SSRI medication is no more effective than placebo, although this point of view is wide open for debate.
Regardless, for people who are skeptical about taking medication or want to explore other options, the following five natural remedies are worth considering. Of course, you should always consult your doctor. The best class of doctor to consult regarding natural remedies for depression is an integrative psychiatrist.

Vitamin D

Vitamin D is said to be one of the most underrated nutrients of all time. Vitamin D is a steroid hormone precursor. Vitamin D deficiency is linked to obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, autoimmune disease, osteoporosis, and cancer. This is an essential vitamin the body needs to stay healthy.
In 2006 the CDC concluded that one fourth of the population is Vitamin D deficient. Canadian researchers have done 14 studies with 31,424 participants that all prove the strong correlation to low Vitamin D and depression.
In 2006, a study on 80 elderly people showed that those who lacked Vitamin D were 11 times more prone to depression – a number that is shocking, considering most people would never link this vitamin to such a serious disorder.
Safe sun exposure may help raise Vitamin D levels. Being outside with no sunscreen (without allowing yourself to burn) can actually be good for your body. Of course, supplements can also be taken and are proven to help as well.

Omega 3 Fatty Acids

Researchers have noticed that a sharp rise in depression occurred as people consume less omega 3 fatty acids and more processed foods.
A Columbus University study analyzed 59 patients diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder, 18 of which also suffered from Cormobid Anxiety Disorder. Low levels of omega 3 prevailed among the study group, but were most pronounced in those suffering from anxiety and depression. Although is it not on the front line for treating depression, it is a way to attack it from another angle.

Sam-e

Sam-e is a naturally occurring compound found in almost every element of the body. It helps the immune system, maintains cell membranes, and supports chemicals in the brain such as serotonin, melatonin, and dopamine.
Research indicates that Sam-e treatment is more effective than placebo in treating mild to moderate depression. It works more quickly and can be just as effective as prescribed medications without the headaches, sleepiness, sexual dysfunction, and other side effects that occur.
Unfortunately. Sam-e can not be found in food, but it can be prescribed in capsules if you consult with your healthcare provider.

Heavy Metal Detox

Heavy metal toxicity can disturb brain chemistry, which may cause anxiety and depression, and can also weaken your immunity.
Heavy metals, such as mercury, lead, cadmium, arsenic, mad aluminum interfere with various chemicals in your brain that are associated with depression. Examples of these would be GABA, which contributes to anxiety and a dull intelligence, dopamine, which gives the brain energy and motivation, and acetylcholine, which makes the brain sharp and have good memory.
Ridding the body of the excess heavy metals that harm vital brain chemistry involves balancing mineral antagonists. This dislodges the metals from the tissues into the blood with cheating agents that bind the metals in the blood and prevent them from being re-deposited elsewhere, so the kidneys can properly excrete them.
It is best to work with an experienced health practitioner on a detox plan.

Amino Acid Therapy

Depression and anxiety can occur when there is an imbalance of neurotransmitters in the brain. Amino acids are the building blocks of neurotransmitters.
By giving the body specific therapeutic doses of amino acids, we are giving the body the raw materials it needs to feed the pathway of neurotransmitter production and balance brain chemistry.
For serotonin, 5-HTP or tryptophan can be used. For GABA, doses of GABA can be used. Both of these help soothe and calm the brain, which is helpful with depression, anxiety, and also insomnia.
Amino acid therapy is a method that was discovered in the early 1900′s and used up until the 1980′s when other methods, such as SSRI’s became more popular. Amino acids are often used in place of antidepressants and don’t have the harsh side effects. With a doctor’s supervision, it is proven to be a powerful method in overcoming depression.
Depression is serious. Treating depression should be a matter of personal research and consultation with experts. It is worth learning all you can about how depression works!
The good news is, many healthcare providers offer labs tests that reveal the status of Vitamin D, amino acids, heavy metals, etc.. in your blood. This eliminates the guesswork when it comes to assessing your risk factors.

The Mantras of the Transcendental Meditation Technique by Dr Keith ...

These days we hear a lot of talk about the mantras used for meditation. Some people say a random word is best, others recommend the universal sound Aum or Om. But what about the mantras used in the Transcendental Meditation technique? Are they generic or special? Secular or religious? Useless or effective? And where do they come from? These are important questions so let’s find an answer for them.

The Transcendental Meditation technique is an effortless mental procedure whereby an individual experiences increasingly quieter levels of thinking, leading to the experience of total silence; the source of thought, at the deepest level the mind. The technique of Transcendental Meditation has many unique features and one of them is the mantra. As part of personal instruction each student receives a suitable thought/sound or mantra for their meditation practice. These mantras are meaningless sounds which serve as the delicate vehicle on which the mind glides through deeper, more silent levels of the thinking process.

For maximum effectiveness students are encouraged to refrain from speaking or writing down their mantra as this has a damaging and dulling effect on this highly delicate and refined meditation tool. Also, there is a limited pool of mantras that each Transcendental Meditation teacher draws upon to select the appropriate sound for each student. So it’s entirely possible that some students could have the same mantra.

The mantra is selected by the Transcendental Meditation teacher based on the suitability and harmonious effect it will create for each student when properly used. Also, the technique of how to use the mantra is just as crucial as the proper selection of the mantra/sound itself.

It’s important to note that the mantras are used for their sound quality only and have no assigned meaning. These two important aspects, suitability and meaninglessness, allow the mind to be lively but undirected at the same time, so it can sink deep within, ‘transcend’ thought and experience its own silent, inner nature. This is the process called ‘transcending’ which takes place during the Transcendental Meditation technique.

To understand this principle more clearly lets examine the word ‘flower’. A word has two aspects: the sound value and the English meaning. When we say or think the word ‘flower’ we automatically consider the word’s meaning, its qualities and context. We might think of the color, the smell, the quantity, the location and so on and these thoughts about the flower engage and hold the mind on the surface, conscious thinking level and do not allow the mind to fathom its inner nature.

Therefore by intention and by design, the mantra used in the Transcendental Meditation technique is a sound that has no meaning attributed to it either by the teacher or their student. At the same time it should be clear, that if a science, religion or cultural group were to assign a meaning to a mantra, in the past or future, it would still have no bearing on the use of that mantra in the instruction or practice of the Transcendental Meditation technique.

For centuries “google” has been a delightful, nonsensical sound, uttered by babies. More recently however it has been attributed a meaning; the name of a worldwide, Internet search engine. However this new adult meaning has no bearing on a baby’s use of that same sound. Likewise mantras are sounds that are meaningless both to the Transcendental Meditation teacher and the student even though other people, cultures or religions may or may not have assigned a meaning to them.

To further illustrate this point let’s consider the word “flat”. In the USA this sound has a meaning associated with the shape of an object. In England however, “flat” also refers to an apartment. Therefore, each respective culture utilizes sound and assigns meanings for their own localized purpose. Other languages, cultures and people who also use that same sound or word, are completely indifferent to the meaning assigned to that sound/word by other countries or cultures. The same is true with respect to the Transcendental Meditation technique. It utilizes specific mantras/sounds completely irrespective of their intended meaning in other languages or cultural settings.

The Transcendental Meditation technique and the mantras/sounds it utilizes have their origin in the ancient Vedic tradition which predates all religions and cultures including the Hindu religion. The Vedic tradition is a universal body of complete and timeless knowledge encompassing the total field of natural law, or underlying intelligence, that governs the universe. Because the Vedas and the Vedic tradition are ancient and universal, many of its sounds, names and principals are found in many countries, cultures and religions around the world.

The ancient Vedic tradition of India is the oldest continuous tradition of knowledge on earth. In 2003 the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) proclaimed the Vedic tradition (specifically the recitation of the Vedic hymns) a “masterpiece of intangible heritage to humanity”.

The TM technique and its mantras are derived from this same Vedic tradition. Over thousands of years, the technique of Transcendental Meditation contained in the Vedas had been misinterpreted and therefore lost its effectiveness. It was then revived in the 1950’s, to its original and highly effective form, by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi who was the custodian and representative of the Vedic tradition in our generation.

So we conclude therefore, that the mantras used in the Transcendental Meditation technique not only have their roots in a timeless tradition of knowledge but that they are also simple and powerful, ancient and unique, meaningful and meaningless, all at the same time!

Anger

bombIf you’re struggling with out-of-control anger, you may be wondering why your fuse is so short. Anger problems often stem from what you’ve learned as a child. If you watched others in your family scream, hit each other, or throw things, you might think this is how anger is supposed to be expressed. Traumatic events and high levels of stress can make you more susceptible to anger as well.
In order to get your needs met and express your anger in appropriate ways, you need to be in touch with what you are really feeling. Are you truly angry? Or is your anger masking other feelings such as embarrassment, insecurity, hurt, shame, or vulnerability?

If your knee-jerk response in many situations is anger, it is very likely that your temper is covering up your true feelings and needs. This is especially likely if you grew up in a family where expressing feelings was strongly discouraged. As an adult, you may have a hard time acknowledging feelings other than anger.

Clues that there’s something more to your anger

  • You have a hard time compromising. Is it hard for you to understand other people’s points of view, and even harder to concede a point? If you grew up in a family where anger was out of control, you may remember how the angry person got his or her way by being the loudest and most demanding. Compromising might bring up scary feelings of failure and vulnerability.
  • You have trouble expressing emotions other than anger.Do you pride yourself on being tough and in control, never letting your guard down? Do you feel that emotions like fear, guilt, or shame don’t apply to you? Everyone has those emotions, and if you think you don’t, you may be using anger as a cover for them.
  • You view different opinions and viewpoints as a personal challenge to you. Do you believe that your way is always right and get angry when others disagree? If you have a strong need to be in control or a fragile ego, you may interpret other perspectives as a challenge to your authority, rather than simply a different way of looking at things.
If you are uncomfortable with many emotions, disconnected, or stuck on an angry one-note response to everything, it might do you some good to get back in touch with your feelings. Emotional awareness is the key to self-understanding and success in life. Without the ability to recognize, manage, and deal with the full range of human emotions, you’ll inevitably spin into confusion, isolation, and self-doubt.

Some Dynamics of Anger

  • We become more angry when we are stressed and body resources are down.
  • We are rarely ever angry for the reasons we think.
  • We are often angry when we didn’t get what we needed as a child.
  • We often become angry when we see a trait in others we can’t stand in ourselves.
  • Underneath many current angers are old disappointments, traumas, and triggers.
  • Sometimes we get angry because we were hurt as a child.
  • We get angry when a current event brings up an old unresolved situation from the past.
  • We often feel strong emotion when a situation has a similar content, words or energy that we have felt before.

Procrastination- 4 Essentials for Breaking Through - free article ...

“I have learned that most regrets come from the things I DIDN’T do. I have learned that regret lasts forever.” Simply Brilliant

Procrastination- putting off what you can do today until tomorrow. 7 years, 5 months, and 2 days later you’re wondering why you never started that book. It would have been completed. You could be reaping the rewards and writing full time. You see yourself sitting on the garden patio of your dream home surrounded by towering palms and luxurious flowers. As the ocean breeze glides across your face the telephone rings. You made the Best Seller List. In regret the vision is bright. In procrastination it’s doom and gloom. Back in the present you may be saying, ”There’s too much competition. No one will publish my book”. What if you flip flop the picture so you are pulled towards the intense vision you had in regret like it was a magnet. Why not create that vision sooner rather than later. Procrastination leads to stress, poor health, and regrets that last for life. Action results in fulfillment, life experience, and wisdom. Get the 4 steps to break through procrastination below.

Step 1- What are you procrastinating on? Is it appropriate to hold off or irrational postponement? Will this make a positive impact in your life? Choose the area that you will stop procrastinating and make a renewed commitment.

Step 2- Discover the source to find the solution. Consider when your car doesn’t start. You look for the source of the problem. When you find the source it is easy to take action to make the repair. Look behind procrastination to find what is restraining you. It may be an unpleasant task, lack of interest, someone else’s goal, a large overwhelming project, fear, poor time management, or indecision. Be brutally honest and get to the source.

Step 3- Based on the source; decide if this is a goal you want to keep. If so, choose a strategy that feels good to you. It may mean developing new habits. Discover the source and set up the strategy in a way that you know you will take action. Here are some possible sources and solutions to get your ideas flowing:

An Unpleasant Task/ Lack of Interest- Schedule it at the beginning of the day so it is not hanging over your head all day long. Think of how great you will feel to have it done. Reward yourself when you follow through.

Someone Else’s Goal- Set a boundary...say no or accept only the part of the job that you feel good about. If you can not say no (ex. employment situation) then you may choose to follow the above solution.

A Large Overwhelming Project- Break the project into small manageable tasks. What part can you do? What can you delegate? What is the first step? What daily steps can you take? A great solution for decluttering!

Lack of Focus Due to Multiple Projects- Prioritize the projects then break them down into small manageable tasks as in the step above. Focus on completion of one project at a time.

Fear- What is the fear telling you? Is it valid or an irrational assumption? Usually what we anticipate doesn’t occur. Picture the ideal end result. Affirmations and visualization can help. Focus on how great you will feel simply for having the courage to try. As Eleanor Roosevelt says, “you gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you stop to look fear in the face. Your must do the thing which you think you cannot do.”

Poor Time Management- Schedule a block of time daily or weekly to work only on this project. Keep the appointments. Begin with small blocks of time (whatever you can commit) until you are consistently keeping the appointments. Then consider committing more time.

Indecision- When you don’t know what to do set a deadline to make up your mind. Then get whatever support and information you need to be able to make an educated decision.

Step 4- Hold an intense vision- Think of that clear, exciting picture that shows up in regret. Allow that to pull you towards it. You have great capabilities when you take action, even if it’s learning in action. Focus on how great you will feel when you go for it! After all, it is through the journey that the great and memorable moments take place.

What project will you stop procrastinating on?

Photographic Memory Training Exercises by Greg Frost

Photographic memory training exercises are used to develop and improve and individual’s memory. Most techniques taught in books focus on the ability to retain and recall information when needed. However, photographic memory training exercises should focus on the learning process, rather than the memorization. It is the learning process that creates links in the mind, allowing it to recall the information at a later time.

There are many common photographic memory training exercises, such as list building, word association (also known as visualization and association) and story telling. These exercises are useful in remembering lists such as birthdays, telephone numbers, or your shopping list.

Whilst there is great controversy regarding the existence of photographic memory, it is without a doubt that these exercises when used, can train the mind to improve on its mental capacity and memory.

The best method that we recommend would be the picture game. This is one that can be adapted to use with children or adults, and the best element of this exercise is that it is fun. This makes it an interesting experience, and people are more likely to remember what they learnt and put it into practice. When working with children, it is also a good suggestion to involve a reward, as this will motivate them to work harder and pay attention to what you are trying to teach.

The Picture Game

This is a fantastic exercise for improving your sensory memory, especially your vision. Start with a simple picture that involves at least a foreground and a background. Study the picture for a minute, then put it away and see how much of it you can recall. For example, what were the people wearing? What colour was the house? How many apples were on the tree? These are simple questions which will inspire you to want to recall everything about the picture, making it a great exercise. With constant practice, you can move on to more complex pictures, and soon you will find yourself on the way towards developing a photographic memory!

5 Tips On How To Build Self Confidence Today - free article ...

There are very few people who could call themselves perfect and be right. Most of us need to build self confidence today, but the majority just either ignore the issues or concentrate on the negatives: stress, worry, jobs, money problems and relationship issues. Concentrating on these areas drains our self confidence rather than improving it.

If you could improve your self confidence you could make more money, look and feel better physically, or just be more relaxed with other people. Below there are five simple techniques that have been proved to help build self confidence today.

1. Talk to yourself. It sounds crazy but it works. All of us have a running monologue constantly in our heads, whether we realize it or not. Everything we see, hear, or touch sparks off an immediate dialog in our thoughts.

For those who lack confidence this monologue is filled with negative messages many of which are the negative side of adverts from television, radio, advertisement boardings, newspapers, and just overhearing other people talk.

These negative thoughts literally suck energy from our minds and bodies and block the flow of positive messages. We need to hear the positive messages as they will build self confidence today and raise our self esteem. Take control. Use your inner thoughts to talk to yourself in a positive manner, as often as you can.

As an example one of my regular sayings is "I like myself, I like myself, I like myself". I just repeat it for a couple of minutes. It sounds cheesy, but does build self confidence today – Try it. I bet that if you go to the mirror right now and repeat out loud "I like myself!" 50 times, it will be impossible to keep from smiling.

2. Dress as smartly and as classily as you can. You wont feel at your best if you don't look your best. You will be amazed at just how much more confidence you will have just looking your best. It just feels good when you are wearing your best clothes, are well groomed, and are surrounded by a clean environment. So what if it is Saturday, you need to build self confidence today not next week. Put on your nice clothes, get the car washed, style that hair! A hairdresser once told me "Everyday is show time!"

3. Increase your self esteem even more by giving thanks to what you are, how you look, and what you are doing. Say "thank you" to yourself to everything you see, all whom you meet, and each smile that you receive.

4. Stand or sit correctly: How you stand sends out a message to the World, and in turn, back to you. This results in improving how you feel about yourself and will build self confidence today and every day.

There is scientific evidence that shows how posture affects our mood. Do not slouch. Slouching produces a down mood. By slouching you are telling the world and yourself it doesn't matter, you don't matter. Standing tall and upright will actually lift your mood. Help build up your confidence by pulling back those shoulders, stop that slouch, and walk proud.

5. Smile. Just smile and things seem better somehow. Practice smiling regularly and get your facial muscles used to the physical act of smiling.

Go to the mirror and smile – make yourself. Not a grimace, but a proper smile. If you don't think you can try this:

1) Open your eyes as wide as you can – (try and get your eyebrows right up to you hair line)

2) Slightly open your mouth

3) Pull the corners of your mouth back towards your ears (If your not sure pull them back with your fingers so you know what it feels like then try again without your fingers).

4) Repeat 50 times. Get your facial muscles used to smiling and you will smile more and encourage smiles from others. This will make you feel happier and with that you'll build self confidence today.

Psychology of Motivation - free article courtesy of ArticleCity.com

Anything a person does is driven by some certain desire to acquire a predetermined goal. Cognitive psychology theorists endeavor to study and to fully conceive the nature of motivation or desire. People do one thing in order to achieve a specific goal; however understanding that doing one thing is necessary to achieve another thing is insufficient for a person to start doing the “one thing”. This fact leaves nothing else but to bring out the idea of desire. Therefore, the knowledge, or the cognition, about particular characteristics of actions and objects is required but is not enough to motivate a person to start doing relevant things. Another important component is person’s personal desire coming from within a person; otherwise the nothing will be done.

In order to achieve some C, a person has to do a particular action B, but, as mentioned above, the person needs to wish this C in order to get to action B. These are the basic concepts of the folk psychology, that try to explain the nature of motivation. On one hand, these concepts as well as the “scientific” terms of this branch are incompatible with genuine psychology. They also fail to explain the real procedures of behavior, although they seem quite satisfactory and sufficient. These folk concepts are mainly different from Maze’s theory. On the other hand, however, there truly are similarities in this folk “purpose” or “desire” concept and Maze’s understanding of nature of motivation.

The main differences between the folk cognitive psychology concept and Maze’s instinctual theory are the following; folk psychological concept of desire suggests that the mechanism from its inception till the achievement is mental. In other words, a person fully understands actions, means, their goals, and ends. What Maze offers, is that processes in a person behavior are “neutral”(Maze, 1983, p. 150). What he meant is a human has certain centers in his or her brain, which are responsible for things like thirst, hunger, self-defense, sex, and others. And so whenever a person’s get excited, the person immediately receives a signal and does everything necessary to satiate the need. Of course, people would not defend themselves when are thirsty, rather they would try to get something to drink, which means that they understand what is going on, but have no control over the phenomenon. Folk psychology, on the other hand, suggests that people consciously motivate themselves to get a drink, but Maze offers another view, which completely satisfies the needs of the science to explain human behavior. Of course both folk psychology and Maze’s theory claim that a person does one thing in order for the other thing to happen, but the approaches and mechanisms are completely different.

Why you Absolutely Must Take Control of Your Subconscious for ...

From the moment of birth your first emotional experiences establish your subconscious perceptions of the world. There is not a moment of the day or night that you are not affected by your emotions. More often than not it is your programmed emotional states, not logic that control your behavior. Therefore in order to apply the process of Burris MIND/FITNESS you must first understand how your subconscious mind works.

Your subconscious mind flawlessly records everything you have ever seen, felt, smelled, heard, or tasted. Unfortunately it is not capable of interpreting the true meaning of the information it records. It simply takes the information it accumulates, and organizes it into individual programs that determine how you will respond to recurring circumstances in your daily life. Once your subconscious mind has taken certain information and formed it into a program, it will devote its considerable power to the continuation of that program behavior or habit, regardless of the consequences.

Your subconscious programming can be useful. This is what allows you to do things automatically like drive a car, type a letter, or use a computer. If the subconscious did not store this information for you in the form of a program, you would not be able to do these things automatically. The disadvantage to this is that there are some subconscious programs that simply do not work.

At some point in your life you may have been programmed to eat poorly or to respond poorly to a certain situation or to link pleasure to things like smoking, drugs or alcohol. The dilemma later in life is how to change the behaviors that do not work for you.

The bottom line is that there are two subconscious components that activate an emotional state, which in turn determines your behavior.

1) You must talk to yourself which usually begins with a question and

2) By asking yourself a question your subconscious mind will always give you an answer, which in turn produces a correlating picture.

It is from this subconscious picture that your emotional state is determined and in turn determines your behavior. A good example of this process is when a person is overweight; they constantly ask themselves negative questions like: “Why am I so fat?” or “How did I get so fat?” or “Why can’t I lose this weight???”

By asking yourself these types of negative questions, your subconscious mind will produce negative answers such as: You are fat because you overeat or you overeat because you are stressed and for each of these negative answers the subconscious mind will produce a correlating picture of you as a fat person.

The mind now interprets these subconscious pictures, as how you should look, and devotes its tremendous power toward maintaining this body image. So you see, every time you ask yourself a question there is a correlating subconscious picture, which determines your emotional response. Through the process of Burris MIND/FITNESS you will learn how to Recognize, Access and Change these two subconscious components.

Unlike your conscious mind, your subconscious mind is always active, it never sleeps. An example of this is when you ask yourself the question: What is that person’s name? For the life of you, you cannot think of their name and then maybe an hour or two later or even the next day their picture and name pop into your mind. The reason for this is your subconscious mind was continuously working on the name, even though you had consciously given up.

If the subconscious does not already have a stored answer for a question, it will search through all of its available information until it formulates one. This is why you need to ask yourself any question you think may move you toward your weight goal because the subconscious will always find an answer.

It is estimated that your subconscious mind generates over 60 thousand thoughts per day. We refer to this thought process as talking to ourselves. The reason your subconscious mind is capable of generating over 60 thousand thoughts per day is because your inner voice continuously speaks to you at a rate of one thousand to twelve hundred words per minute. You can only speak however at about two to three hundred words per minute. This means your inner voice runs at a rate of about four times faster than you can speak and produces a correlating picture for each of these thoughts. In other words if your mind was the world, your conscious mind might take up the space of LA or New York but your subconscious mind would take up the space and activity of the rest of the world.

Regardless of weather your goal is a change in diet for weight loss, an increase in your fitness program or to take control of an eating disorder such as anorexia or bulimia. In the end the question you need to ask yourself is…Am I completely happy with the mind running itself or do I need to take control of it? If your answer is I need to take control of it, then Burris MIND/FITNESS is the answer.

The Challenge of Manifesting at this Time by Mashubi Rochell

At this very special and momentous time in the Earth's history, many people are awakening spiritually and coming to realize the vast potentials and gifts of living a life in harmony with spirit. An evolutionary shift is happening, and as more people awaken, the momentum of spiritual growth for all of humanity accelerates as well.

One of the most challenging aspects of spiritual life comes when it comes time to live the spiritual realizations that we've had, in our day to day realities. As we are confronted with the daily tasks, choices, opportunities and challenges of life, many obstacles can appear, seemingly out of nowhere. These obstacles can create discouragement or even despair, especially in those who are new to the spiritual path and who may not have a full understanding of what is happening.

At this specific time in history, there are momentous changes happening on the Earth, both physically and vibrationally. Greater levels of spiritual light are manifesting both in the energy body of the Earth and also physically. The higher vibrations of light are having a transformative effect on physical matter and on our bodies, and are creating a process of purification that is happening both globally and on an individual level.

The process of purification is a gift from God that heals all wounds and reveals all that has been in need of healing that was previously hidden. We are seeing this effect in global events that reveal what was previously hidden, and that expose patterns, thoughts and actions of negativity that were previously entrenched and intractable. As these wounds are exposed, greater consciousness and light can be brought to them, which opens new possibilities and pathways for healing.

Because this process of purification is so active on the Earth right now, there is a massive and dynamic interplay between energies of light and energies of darkness. These are like spiritual weather patterns that affect all of us the Earth. At the ultimate spiritual levels of reality, these energies are One, and in the physically manifested universe they exist as polarities which originally allowed the individuated human consciousness to develop. Humankind developed a sense of "I" as separate from the whole, and now that this development has reached its maximum potential, and at the present time there is a shift now happening that will allow humanity to begin to experience ourselves as One with All even as we are "I".

This very dynamic interplay of energies is creating great emotional intensity for many people, and is also affecting both individual and collective consciousness. The effect is similar to feeling waves of energy that wash through one's body, mind and emotions. Some waves are sudden and unexpected, and can create a momentary feeling of being toppled by them.

As people are awakening spiritually and coming to an understanding of how thought creates reality, they can feel dismayed to see and feel such difficulties in their daily life. It may be helpful to realize that your own individual life is connected with a much larger event that is happening right now on the Earth, and that some of what you may be experiencing is related to this larger process. By anchoring your consciousness in God's love, light and goodness, it becomes possible to pass through the current turbulence without feeling overwhelmed.

This current energy configuration is also creating some challenges related to the process of manifestation. There is a phenomenon called the resistance of matter to light which you may have experienced when you have attempted to take steps towards manifesting a light filled intention. You may have received strong inner guidance related to a specific path, direction or project that your heart called you to. You could feel the light, the love and the goodness of this guidance. Then, as you take steps towards making this guidance a reality, suddenly all manner of difficulties appear. It feels exactly the opposite of "flow", and many who experience this begin to feel that they have some kind of problem with manifestation ... that their inner belief structures or emotional issues are preventing this flow.

It is always helpful to look within and examine your beliefs, emotions and thought patterns, but these may not be the only cause of the challenges you are facing. The phenomenon of the resistance of matter to light may be operating, within the dynamic interplay of energies that is happening right now on the Earth. This is a passing phenomenon, and will no longer be operational once the presence of God's light has manifested in a more completely on the Earth and within physical matter.

What this requires of us at the present moment is patience, and a willingness to persevere and to continue to focus on our light filled goals and intentions without succumbing to despair. A sense of humor helps as well, to lighten the energy and move beyond the frustrations that can occur in this current atmosphere. Most importantly, it helps to find ways to be able to feel God's love, light and peace upholding you even in the midst of the storms. A regular spiritual practice, daily health practices that bring nourishment to your body, and a loving spiritual community can support you in moving more fully into the new dimensions of spiritual light that are unfolding for us all at this time.

Right Brain Left Brain - free article courtesy of ArticleCity.com

The concept of "right brain left brain" refers to the two hemispheres of your brain. Some amazing experiments involving people who've had the corpus callosum cut taught us most of what we know about the differences between the two sides. The surgery is performed on epileptics to reduce the incidence of seizures, and it isolates most of the right hemisphere from the left hemisphere.

For a typical experiment, a divider allows a participant to see two objects - say, a cup with the right eye and a lemon with the left. When asked what they see, they'll say they see a cup, and nothing more, because most people process both language and information from the right eye with their left brain (left hemisphere). However, when they write down what they see, using their left hand, they'll write "a lemon," because both the left hand and eye are controlled by the right side of the brain.

Of course, you have only one brain, and the two hemispheres work together normally. These split-brain experiments show how distinct the two sides really are, though. When the corpus callosum is cut it's as if there really are two brains. What have we learned from these experiments then?

Left Brain

For more than 90% of right-handed people and 70% of left-handed people, the left hemisphere:

- Processes things more sequentially.

- It is more rational, logical, analytical, and objective.

- It looks at the parts.

- It handles normal speech.

If you want to stimulate and strengthen the thinking processes of your "left brain," talk about things as logically as you can. Also, picking apart an argument or something you read can exercise this part of the brain too. While there is little hard evidence as to the effects of specific exercises, talking or working on your analytical skills are safe things to do, so experiment freely.

Right Brain

Again, the following is true for most people. The right hemisphere:

- Handles thing in more random and subjective manor.

- Is responsible for "hunches" and other intuitive processes.

- Looks more at wholes, and is best at pattern-recognition.

If you want to exercise your "right brain," sing. Stutterers find that they don't stutter when they sing, because it is handled differently than regular speech. writing or reciting free-form poetry and studying maps may help as well. Again, these are not proven by scientific studies yet, but there is no danger in experimenting in these areas.

Right Brain Left Brain Dominance

Most of us seem to favor one style or another of thinking, and this may be an indication of the dominance of one or the other hemisphere. For exmple, it seems likely that the choice between joining the debating team or the art class in school has something to do with which side is dominant. You have probably noticed that left-handed people, who presumably have a more developed right hemisphere, are more often artists.

If you want to be more "whole brained" in your approach to things, you can start by working on your weakest areas, using some of the tips above. Also, you can bring both sides into whatever you do. For example, metaphors, a right-hemisphere process, can be used in logical (left hemisphere) debate. Artistic work can include more analysis. Can this really help balance your thinking? Probably. Time and more research will tell. In the meantime, it can't hurt to more fully use your right brain and left brain.

Having Affirmative Power: Self-Worth - free article courtesy of ...

I believe using affirmations as contemplative reminders of who we are helps keep us balanced. It is a first step in claiming your self-worth which is the foundation of true self value.

Your true self is not defined by any external circumstances – it is the power within you to create the life you choose. It is the part of you that is one with the Divine. It’s non-negotiable and the one, great equalizer between all men and women. We’re all made from the same soul substance, equally valued and divine. It makes sense to think of our entire universal operating system as the All.

Identifying with imagery of our source makes us feel more connected within a world filled with disappointments, distractions, and strife and many who choose to negate their true self. We need to see ourselves reflected in images of the Divine we can relate to – it reminds us of who we are. Remember, you came here to learn, evolve your soul, and grow your ability to demonstrate your nature through a physical experience.

We are in charge of manifesting a world which is a product of our collective thought processes. If we don’t value ourselves, we’re going to demonstrate a devalued world. We will create a world that is less than worthy of what we can be, our creations won’t serve the greater good. Lacking self-worth is faulty thinking …and is reflected in our relationships, workplaces, and even communities. Consequently, we do not realize our power, and feel powerless… and continue to live within experiences that diminish our power because that is where we decided to mentally reside.

Life is a soul journey filled with both intellect (what is in our minds) and our emotion (our expression and physical presence). Our job is to use the power that is in our minds and our bodies as a vehicle of expression for what we think! It is the very reason we are here. So , be sure to value yourself and joyously appreciate this lifetime. It is a wonderful opportunity to express your nature, here and now. You are evolving your soul, and the intellect of the Divine, through your human experience – the joys as well as pains. It’s our greatest challenge, our soul work, our very reason for signing on for this ride. So , how can knowing the Goddess help?

Among Her many facets, She symbolizes our experience in the physical world as a cyclical, sacred, and transformative journey. It’s a way we complete our self-development. When we integrate both aspects of our existence, we are not just valuing our transcendent aspect. We are deeply valuing our immanent aspect, our time spent on earth to demonstrate the Divine through what we do. She is represented as Emotion, or Mother God, as Her counterpart is the Intellect, or Father God.

The true self has both elements, yin and yang, or the masculine and feminine. You are also a composite of the physical, and the mental as a total experience of who you are. You are matter and you matter. You are worthy when you believe you have self-worth. And, you have an opportunity to harness your already wonderful capabilities, which is the God/Goddess force within you. It is searching to demonstrate itself through you.

We all have our own individual channel the Divine operates on—it just a matter of how we choose to think. So , to affirm this image of co-creation of the life force we all share:

I am conscious of who I am, I am my true self. I am both Mother and Father. I am loved and beloved, and I am in love with my true self. My self-worth is a reflection of my true power, which reaches everywhere at once. I am a marvelous spark of the Divine and celebrate my remarkable learning journey. I am timeless, living without boundary, and full of my beautiful, unique, and divine self.
